| Aaron Rodgers injures calf Tuesday Limped afterward but stayed around for a bit longer By: Doug Orth | Aug 15 2023, 11:10 pm

|
After releasing a pass (interception), Aaron Rodgers clutches his left calf. He’s limping around, but stays in for the next play. This was his “good” calf. Injured the right in OTAs. #Jets (ESPN.com - Rich Cimini)
FFToday's Take: Early indications are that the injury is not overly serious. With that said, expect New York to be very cautious with its 39-year-old quarterback over the next few days - especially considering he has now injured both calves in the last few months. While he offers virtually nothing with his legs nowadays, Rodgers' pinpoint accuracy and strong supporting cast should be enough to make him a strong QB2 in fantasy.

| Dalvin Cook joins Aaron Rodgers in New York Still a week away from practicing due to shoulder injury By: Mike Krueger | Aug 14 2023, 9:00 pm

|
New Jets’ RB Dalvin Cook still is at least a week away from being able to practice after undergoing shoulder surgery in February. Cook’s NY arrival also will be delayed due to fact that he will become a first-time father any day now.
So it will be a bit before he’s on the field. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Cook's arrival isn't great news for the fantasy prospects of Breece Hall (ACL recovery) but those able to take a long-term approach in deeper leagues or best-ball scenarios shouldn't dock Hall much at all. Cook is setup to get a good chunk of the early-season work at running back depending on how quickly Hall is brought along, but should lose touches to the more-talented Hall as the season wears on.

| Saints RB Kendre Miller suffers sprained knee Further evaluation needed By: Mike Krueger | Aug 13 2023, 4:30 pm

|
Saints rookie RB Kendre Miller suffered a knee sprain, per coach Dennis Allen. Will have to get some imaging for further evaluation. (Mike Triplett on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Miller was expected to have an early-season role along with Jamaal Williams while Alvin Kamara serves his three-game suspension. That role is now in doubt depending on how severe this injury turns out to be. Miller was nursing a knee injury during the off-season.

| Colts expect Jonathan Taylor back at camp this week Will practice when cleared medically By: Mike Krueger | Aug 13 2023, 2:47 pm

|
Shane Steichen reiterated Colts expect Jonathan Taylor back at camp this week. He practices when he's cleared medically. It was noteworthy last week when JT opted to do his rehab away from the team. That's not even remotely normal. (Mike Chappell on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Taylor, Josh Jacobs and J.K. Dobbins are a few of the high profile running backs that are squabbling with their team's management over contract issues. Taylor is also dealing with an ankle injury which further complicates matters. Even if Taylor reports back to the team, it seems like we have a long way to go before this situation is rectified.

| Jerome Ford injures hamstring Likely backup to Nick Chubb goes down Monday By: Doug Orth | Aug 7 2023, 6:40 pm

|
The Browns weren't able to escape Monday's full-contact practice in the rain without getting an injury scare. This one was to a key piece of their running back rotation behind Nick Chubb. Jerome Ford hobbled off the field after a play with an injury to his right leg. After sitting down on the sideline with a trainer for a moment, he limped into the team facility. The injury was later confirmed as a hamstring issue following practice. (Akron Beacon Journal)
FFToday's Take: There is no word on the severity of the injury yet, but we can expect Ford to miss a few practices at very least. Assuming the injury is minor and Ford can return in a week or two, Ford should be considered a high-priority handcuff for Nick Chubb managers. While he may not inherit the same role Kareem Hunt held in recent years for the Browns, Ford should see enough touches to push for flex value as a standalone option.

| Javonte Williams expected to play in the pre-season Returning from knee injury By: Mike Krueger | Aug 3 2023, 2:26 pm

|
Broncos’ HC Sean Payton told reporters today that RB Javonte Williams, who is coming off a torn ACL, is expected to play this preseason, though Denver might wait until the second preseason game to play him. “I like how he’s progressing,” Payton said. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Williams is coming a serious knee injury that not only affected his ACL, but also his LCL. As we saw with J.K. Dobbins a year ago, it can take some time before players are back on the field and playing at their highest level. Getting action in pre-season games will give us another data point on his recovery. Expect Samaje Perine to be a factor in the Broncos running game regardless of how quick Williams progresses.

| Cooper Kupp exits practice early Suffered undisclosed injury Tuesday By: Doug Orth | Aug 1 2023, 11:30 pm

|
Cooper Kupp left Tuesday’s practice with a member of their medical staff, and did not return.
Coach Sean McVay said after the practice he did not know what Kupp’s status was, and had not yet spoken to the athletic training staff about the situation.
“I saw he looked like he came up a little bit on a red zone route, and then I just know they told me he was out for practice,” McVay said. “I have no more information than that.” (The Athletic - Jourdan Rodrigue)
FFToday's Take: The Athletic's Jourdan Rodrigue shared a video on social media that shows what appears to be the moment Kupp pulls up. While a non-contact injury is rarely ever good, it is at least a good sign that Kupp walked off the field under his own power. Assuming the injury is not serious and he is good to go for Week 1, Kupp can make a strong case to be the top overall receiver selected in fantasy drafts.

| WR Tim Patrick likely out with torn Achilles Broncos down two receivers By: Mike Krueger | Jul 31 2023, 3:25 pm

|
New Broncos WR coach Keary Colbert has had better days. KJ Hamler down for a while with heart issue; fear that Tim Patrick has torn Achilles. In a procedural move, Hamler will appear on today’s wire as waived/non-football illness. However, the door is open for his return to the Broncos or any team early this season. (Mike Klis on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Both Patrick and Hamler have had trouble staying on the field. Hamler has played just 10 games the last two seasons while Patrick missed all of 2022 with an ACL injury. This opens the door for rookie Marvin Mims who the Broncos drafted back in April. They also have Marquez Callaway that Sean Payton recruited from the Saints.

| Kenneth Walker, Zach Charbonnet dealing with injuries Charbonnet out indefinitely with shoulder injury By: Mike Krueger | Jul 30 2023, 6:54 pm

|
Seahawks’ HC Pete Carroll told reporters that rookie RB Zach Charbonnet has a shoulder injury and is out indefinitely. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: RB Kenneth Walker has missed the last few days of practice with a groin injury and may remain out a while, also according to Pete Carroll. We're not off to a great start with the top two options in the Seahawks backfield. Right now it sounds like Charbonnet's injury might be the more serious of the two, but we should get more info in the coming days.

| Joe Burrow leaves practice with calf injury Severity unknown By: Mike Krueger | Jul 27 2023, 4:32 pm

|
There's a lot of speculation out there & some false reports.
Zac Taylor said Joe Burrow suffered a calf injury - he did not specifiy anything else. Nothing about the specifics. We do not know the severity of the injury at all right now. (Kelsey Conway on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Burrow rolled right out of the pocket, then began limping on one leg before sitting down on the ground. Eventually he left the practice field on a cart. We'll have to wait for specifics but it's safe to saw that we may have seen the last of Burrow for the pre-season. Stay tuned...

| Brock Purdy avoids PUP list, cleared for training camp Will be on a pitch count to start camp By: Mike Krueger | Jul 25 2023, 2:08 pm

|
John Lynch: QB Brock Purdy has been medically cleared and has no restrictions to start camp. Will initially be on a "pitch count" and won't practices for three straight days. #49ers (Eric Branch on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: This is good news for Purdy as the 49ers try and work out their quarterback situation. Purdy piled up some respectable stats down the stretch last season but got away with a fair share of questionable throws along the way. However, as long as he remains healthy, it seems Purdy has the leg up on the job over Sam Darnold and Trey Lance.

| Rashod Bateman put on PUP list Received a “cortisone-type” shot in his foot last month By: Doug Orth | Jul 24 2023, 11:30 pm

|
Ravens WR Rashod Bateman was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list to start training camp, per @FieldYates. He has been dealing with a foot injury that caused him to miss the last 9 games of 2022. It wouldn’t be surprising if he missed the first week or two of camp. (ESPN - Jamison Hensley)
FFToday's Take: Bateman cannot seem to buy a break when it comes to his health, as groin injuries as a rookie and a Lisfranc sprain last season have limited him to 18 games through two seasons. Fantasy managers got a taste of what he is capable of early last season with long touchdown catches in the first two games, but the foot injury in Week 4 marked the beginning of the end for him and his fantasy usefulness. Bateman has WR3 upside if he can get right, but Odell Beckham Jr. and rookie Zay Flowers stand to benefit the most if he can't.

| Kadarius Toney will miss practice time, knee injury Expected to be ready for Week 1 By: Mike Krueger | Jul 24 2023, 2:13 pm

|
Wide receiver Kadarius Toney will miss some practice time at Kansas City Chiefs training camp but is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season after aggravating an injury to his knee Sunday, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday. Toney, who underwent an offseason cleanup procedure on his knee, was injured while fielding a punt before the start of practice on Sunday. (ESPN)
FFToday's Take: This isn't helping Toney's injury-prone label. He's had a rough time staying on the field during his short NFL career, playing in 19 games in two years. He's inline to be a big part of the Chiefs offense but will come with a huge red flag for drafters willing to take on his injury risk.

| Jets place four players on PUP list including Breece Hall Can be activated anytime By: Mike Krueger | Jul 19 2023, 4:51 pm

|
The #Jets placed RB Breece Hall, WR Randall Cobb, TE C.J. Uzomah and DB Jarrick Bernard-Converse on the PUP list to open training camp. They can be activated anytime. (Tom Pelissero on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Hall is recovering from a torn ACL that occurred in mid-October last season so this move isn't unexpected. He showed big-play ability in his rookie season as well as solid usage in the passing game, giving him RB1 upside when healthy. The Jets have reportedly had some interest in free agent Dalvin Cook but nothing is imminent.

|
| Javonte Williams optimistic about camp availabilty Continuing rehab on serious Week 4 knee injury By: Doug Orth | Jul 10 2023, 11:20 pm

|
Denver Broncos RB Javonte Williams, who suffered a torn ACL in Week 4 last season, said Sunday "the plan" is for him to be cleared for the start of training camp and to participate at least some in practices after the team's veteran players report July 25.
Asked Sunday at a football camp he hosted with Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain II if he would be medically cleared for training camp, Williams said: "I mean, that's the plan. I feel like I'm ready to go." (ESPN - Jeff Legwold)
FFToday's Take: For his part, Surtain told ESPN's Jeff Legwold that Williams "looks good." Caution needs to be exercised with Williams as he hopes to avoid becoming yet another running back who struggles in the first year after blowing out his knee. Denver appears committed to getting Samaje Perine plenty of work regardless of Williams' health, but there's no question the latter can still be a fantasy RB2 if he is truly all the way back. The odds are that he will be worked in slowly this season, making him more of a risky low-end RB2 option.

|
| Jonathan Taylor healthy entering training camp RB is "healed up" By: Doug Orth | Jul 10 2023, 11:00 pm

|
Running back Jonathan Taylor missed time with an ankle injury and he had surgery to address the injury this offseason. That kept him from taking part in the team’s offseason program, but Jim Irsay said on The Pat McAfee Show that Taylor is “healed up ” with training camp set to start later this month. (Pro Football Talk - Josh Alper)
FFToday's Take: The likelihood is that Taylor has been healthy for at least a month, but this is just the latest reminder that high-ankle sprains are no joke and often take months to heal. The addition of the supremely athletic Anthony Richardson figures to boost Taylor's efficiency behind what has become an average-at-best line and may be just what he needs to return to overall RB1 status. Taylor's receiving numbers are sure to plummet, but he should be a good bet for well over 300 carries in what should be one of the most run-heavy offenses in the league.

|
| Jimmy G had foot surgery in March Might be out until the beginning of training camp By: Mike Krueger | May 25 2023, 1:21 pm

|
Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo underwent surgery on his injured left foot after signing a free agent contract with the team in March, a league source confirmed to ESPN.
"All trending great," a source said. (ESPN)
FFToday's Take: This didn't seem to come a surprise to head coach Josh McDaniels who didn't have much to say on the subject when speaking to the media today. Garoppolo is not expected to take part in OTA practices and could be out until training camp. This isn't an ideal situation for a quarterback changing teams but it's nothing to panic over if you're currently a Garoppolo owner.

| Good chance Javonte Williams won't start camp on PUP Recovering from ACL injury By: Mike Krueger | May 15 2023, 9:52 am

|
Some positive news from the #broncos this weekend. RB Javonte Williams is doing "extremely well" per Sean Payton with his rehab from last season's knee injury. Payton expects him to be ready for the start of training camp and the team believes there's a good chance he won't be starting camp on PUP. (James Palmer on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: The Broncos RB suffered a torn ACL in early October of last season. His recovery will be closely watched as the team brought in Samaje Perine this off-season to fill the gap until Williams is ready. Even if Williams is ready to play by Week 1, he's likely not going to be in workhorse role making Perine a solid value in early Best Ball leagues.

|
| KJ Hamler undergoes surgery for torn pec Could be ready for the start of training camp By: Mike Krueger | Mar 23 2023, 1:02 pm

|
#Broncos WR KJ Hamler recently underwent surgery after suffering a partially torn pec while training on his own, per sources. The recovery timeline is four to six months, giving Hamler a chance to be ready right around the start of training camp in late July. (Tom Pelissero on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Hamler has dealt with numerous injuries (ACL, hip) in his young career that have limited him to just 10 games played the last two seasons. The Broncos have been rumored to be shopping both starting receivers (Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton) but it seems unlikely they would move them. Hamler's deep injury history will have him off the fantasy radar until he proves he can stay on the field.

| Titans release Robert Woods, K Randy Bullock Clear $29 million in cap space By: Mike Krueger | Feb 22 2023, 12:36 pm

|
The #Titans' releases of veterans Taylor Lewan, Robert Woods and Randy Bullock cleared nearly $29 million in 2023 salary cap space. (Tom Pelissero on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: The Titans struggled throwing the ball in 2022 tanking Woods' fantasy value. The team passed for less than 3000 yards and only 16 TDs. Woods finished with a 53-527-2 line playing in all 17 games. The 30-year-old should catch on with a team looking for veteran leadership in their wide receiver room, but isn't likely to have much fantasy value.

| Mecole Hardman has surgery on groin Free agent in 2023 By: Mike Krueger | Feb 21 2023, 11:01 am

|
#Chiefs WR Mecole Hardman had successful groin repair surgery with Dr. William Meyers in Philadelphia this morning, per source. It cleared up the issue he was dealing with this past season. An intriguing free agent-to-be. (Tom Pelissero on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Hardman dealt with a groin injury the second half of the 2022 season and will now be a free agent heading into 2023, which is a weak class for wide receivers. He should be healed well before for training camp.

|
| Chiefs final injury report is bone dry Super Bowl LVII By: Mike Krueger | Feb 10 2023, 4:33 pm

|
Chiefs are not listing any players with any game injury designations for SBLVII. All players good to go. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: This is laughable considering Patrick Mahomes is dealing with a high ankle sprain and no less than three of Kansas City receivers were injured in the AFC Championship game. Mecole Hardman in on the IR and doesn't need to be listed but JuJu Smith-Schuster (knee) and Kadarius Toney (ankle) are expected to play despite their aliments. How much their injuries bother them in Super Bowl LVII, if at all, is anyone's guess.
|
|
| Chiefs activate Clyde Edwards-Helaire from IR Mecole Hardman Out for Super Bowl LVII By: Mike Krueger | Feb 6 2023, 12:53 pm

|
Chiefs activated RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire from Reserve/Injured.
They also placed WR Mecole Hardman on Reserve/Injured. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: The Chiefs have been quiet regarding the exact nature of Hardman's pelvic injury which has bothered him ever since Week 9. He aggravated the injury trying to play in the AFC Championship game and will now miss the Super Bowl. JuJu Smith-Schuster is bothered by a knee injury and remains Questionable. It doesn't seem likely that CEH will have any kind of significant role behind Isiah Pacheco and Jerick McKinnon even is he is active on gameday.
|
|
| Injury update on Chiefs wide receivers Mecole Hardman unlikely to play By: Mike Krueger | Feb 2 2023, 1:03 pm

|
Reid was particularly optimistic that among the injured players Kadarius Toney and JuJu Smith-Schuster would be able to play in the Super Bowl. On JuJu, Reid said, "He's in a good place." Reid was not optimistic about Mecole Hardman. "I doubt he'll make the Super Bowl." (Adam Teicher on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: It sounds like Hardman is likely to be on the Inactive list for Super Bowl but Toney and JuJu have a decent shot of playing. Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Skyy Moore and Justin Watson - who missed last week due to illness - are likely to be in the mix as well. It's almost impossible to predict with accuracy the wide receiver distribution on any given week for the Chiefs.

| Trey Lance expects to be ready for OTAs Likely needs 3-4 more weeks before he is cleared to practice By: Doug Orth | Jan 31 2023, 11:30 pm

|
Trey Lance says he’s 3-4 weeks from being fully cleared for practice. He said he’ll be 100 percent for OTAs. (The Athletic - Matt Barrows)
FFToday's Take: Great news for Lance, who was already going to be a hot topic this offseason - even before Brock Purdy suffered what was reported as a torn UCL in his elbow. Purdy's most optimistic timeline at this point appears to be training camp, and that is only if can avoid Tommy John surgery. With Jimmy Garoppolo highly unlikely to return, it paves the way for Lance to reclaim the starting job. If Lance can finally stay healthy in 2023, there is a distinct chance he finally becomes the latest dual-threat quarterback to take the league by storm.
|
|
| Brock Purdy suffers torn UCL Team holding hope he can avoid Tommy John surgery By: Doug Orth | Jan 30 2023, 11:30 pm

|
49ers QB Brock Purdy suffered a complete tear of the UCL in his throwing elbow and will undergo surgery, per sources.
Purdy is getting second opinions, but the initial hope is he can undergo a repair - not reconstruction (AKA Tommy John) - and will be ready for training camp. (NFL Network - Tom Pelissero)
FFToday's Take: A repair would likely give Purdy a chance to hold onto a starting job in camp, whereas a reconstruction would likely force him to miss the entire 2023 season and allow Trey Lance to reclaim QB1 duties without much of a challenge. Purdy did enough this season to enter camp as the starter, but Lance is a supremely talented player that the 49ers moved heaven and earth to acquire in the 2021 draft. For now, fantasy managers should expect Lance to be the Week 1 starter next fall.

| Travis Kelce added to injury report, Mahomes not listed Back injury for Kelce By: Mike Krueger | Jan 27 2023, 4:02 pm

|
The Chiefs added Travis Kelce to their injury report with a back injury and listed him as questionable for Sunday's game. Mecole Hardman and Justin Watson (illness) are also questionable.
Patrick Mahomes has no injury designation, so he's good to go. (Adam Teicher on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Despite his absence from the report, Mahomes will be bothered by his ankle sprain suffered in last week's game against Jacksonville. How much it will hamper his mobility is the big question. Kelce did practice fully on Friday and there's been no indication that he's in danger of missing this game.

|
| Elijah Mitchell questionable with groin injury McCaffrey not on injury report By: Mike Krueger | Jan 27 2023, 4:01 pm

|
#49ers game status report for for NFC Championship Game vs. Eagles:
Christian McCaffrey is not on the injury report and will play (as he said himself on Thursday)
OUT
QB Jimmy Garoppolo (foot)
QUESTIONABLE
RB Elijah Mitchell (groin)
CB Ambry Thomas (ankle) (Jennifer Lee Chan on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: McCaffrey was dealing with a calf issue last week but appears to be good to go for San Francisco's NFC Championship game against the Eagles. Deebo Samuel (ankle) is also absent from the report. Mitchell's status remains up in the air as he was limited on Friday. We'll have a better idea of his true status on Sunday.

| Josh Allen not expected to go under the knife Elbow injury nagged him for second half of regular season By: Doug Orth | Jan 24 2023, 4:50 pm

|
Brandon Beane says "I think we're good there" as far as Josh Allen not planning to have offseason surgery on his right elbow. Allen said yesterday plan for elbow revolves around rest. (Katherine Fitzgerald on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Allen suggested Monday that his mechanics and throwing motion were affected by the Week 9 injury until the end of the regular season. Considering he seems to be pain-free right now - he told reporters he was back to his old mechanics and throwing motion about two weeks ago on Monday - he should be in great shape for the offseason and training camp. Allen figures to be the top quarterback off fantasy draft boards in most leagues again this offseason.

| Tony Pollard expected to be full strength for training camp Surgery completed on ankle By: Mike Krueger | Jan 24 2023, 3:22 pm

|
Tony Pollard underwent surgery Tuesday on a broken left fibula and high ankle sprain he suffered in the Cowboys’ divisional round playoff loss to San Francisco, per source. Should be full strength well before training camp. Set to be an unrestricted free agent in March...
Want to clarify on the Tony Pollard surgery: the tightrope procedure was to correct the high ankle sprain regarding the ligaments. The fibula will heal with time; no casting. (Todd Archer on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: The Cowboys certainly want to have Pollard back but they've already got Ezekiel Elliott under a large contract. Perhaps a Zeke restructure would be enough to keep both backs in the Dallas backfield moving forward?
|
|
| CMC working through some calf discomfort Expects to play in NFC Championship By: Doug Orth | Jan 23 2023, 6:10 pm

|
Not only was it difficult for Christian McCaffrey to find room to operate against the Dallas Cowboys’ fast and aggressive defense, he was dealing with a bothersome calf condition. McCaffrey played 44 of the 49ers’ 66 offensive snaps, and spent periods of time on the sideline in the second half with Elijah Mitchell taking over for the other 22 snaps.
McCaffrey confirmed the calf discomfort and expressed optimism he will be ready for the 49ers’ NFC Championship Game matchup against the top-seeded Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
“Nothing bad, all good,” McCaffrey said. (Matt Maiocco on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: It is worth noting that HC Kyle Shanahan told reporters Monday that McCaffrey and Mitchell (groin) are day-to-day. Mitchell has benefited from how often the 49ers are playing with the lead during their 12-game winning streak and handled more work than most thought was possible in the wake of the McCaffrey trade, but that workload could be put to the test against the Eagles this weekend. If CMC is a full-go for Philadelphia, he should be on the field for roughly 75 percent of the snaps.

|
| Josh Allen dealt with nagging elbow discomfort Week 9 injury changed throwing motion until end of season By: Doug Orth | Jan 23 2023, 6:00 pm

|
Josh Allen said that it was just two weeks ago when he felt like he was able to get back to the mechanics/throwing motion he likes due to his right elbow injury. Had to adapt it due to the injury. (ESPN.com - Alaina Getzenberg)
FFToday's Take: Allen appeared on the injury report from Week 10 through last week, so this news should not come as a complete shock. There was some thought a month or so ago that Allen's turnover woes were the product of this injury, but that notion seemed to be refuted by the fact that his regular-season production in 2022 was nearly identical to his numbers from 2021. It should be a complete non-issue by the time OTAs start this spring. Allen figures to be the first quarterback off the board in fantasy drafts quite often again in 2023.

|
| Pollard suffers high ankle sprain, fractured fibula Upcoming free agent By: Mike Krueger | Jan 22 2023, 11:06 pm

|
Tony Pollard suffered a high ankle sprain & a fractured fibula in Sunday’s loss, a person w/ knowledge of the injury said. A timetable won’t be determined until surgery is completed, but a four-month timeframe is reasonable.
Big blow for soon to be free agent. (David Moore on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Pollard demonstrated to be the Cowboys best running back in 2022 and will now hit the free agent market as a sought after piece assuming he's able to fully recover from his injuries tonight. The Cowboys will want him back but will they be able to re-sign him with an expensive Ezekiel Elliott also in the mix? The Cowboys would suffer a $12 million cap hit if they release the veteran RB.

| High ankle sprain for Patrick Mahomes "I'll be good to go" By: Mike Krueger | Jan 22 2023, 11:19 am

|
From @NFLGameDay: #Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes suffered a high-ankle sprain in last night's win over the #Jaguars, but vowed "I'll be good to go" for next week's AFC title game. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Mahomes gutted out the Divisional Round game against Jacksonville and most likely will play next week in the Conference Championship game. However, he obviously won't be 100 percent and his mobility will certainly be limited. We can expect a less efficient Chiefs offense against the Bills or Bengals as a result.

|
| Tua Tagovailoa in good shape for 2023 GM confident in QB's health after meeting with specialists By: Doug Orth | Jan 16 2023, 6:00 pm

|
Dolphins GM Chris Grier says that in conversations about doctors about QB Tua Tagovailoa: "We fully expect him back next year, 100%, ready to go."
Grier also said in speaking with consultants: "I don't think he's any more prone (to concussions) than anyone else." (NFL Network - Tom Pelissero)
FFToday's Take: HC Mike McDaniel expects to make it a priority to get Tagovailoa to avoid hits better moving forward, but it's not as if Tua's concussions this season were the result of him running too much. If he suffers another brain injury early in 2023, it will either be his third or fourth in less than a year. This story may not be over, as Tagovailoa or his family could decide an extended absence may be good for his long-term health. Either way, Miami would be smart to make sure it is very confident in its backup quarterback moving forward, be it Teddy Bridgewater, Skylar Thompson or someone else.

| Huntley and Anthony Brown may both play for BAL Ravens could use two QBs against Bengals By: Mike Krueger | Jan 15 2023, 8:44 am

|
With Lamar Jackson sidelined, the Baltimore Ravens are preparing to go with an unusual strategy at quarterback at the start of the playoffs. The Ravens are planning to use both of their quarterbacks -- banged-up backup Tyler Huntley and undrafted rookie Anthony Brown -- in Sunday night's wild-card game against the Cincinnati Bengals, league sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. (ESPN)
FFToday's Take: Huntley has been bothered by an injury to his throwing shoulder which could signal he will be used as the primary running quarterback over Anthony Brown. Officially, the Ravens have yet to name a starter and probably won't before kickoff. Both quarterbacks are off the fantasy radar given this situation.

|
| Raheem Mostert Out for Wildcard Weekend Missed practice with thumb injury By: Mike Krueger | Jan 13 2023, 3:31 pm

|
Raheem Mostert is out. So, Jeff Wilson and Salvon Ahmed at RB for Dolphins.
Liam Eichenberg is doubtful. Robert Jones has played LG before.
Terron Armstead, Brandon Shell, Kendall Lamm all questionable. Greg Little can play LT or RT.
Options. Maybe. (Joe Schad on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Mostert missed practice all week after he sustained a thumb injury last week against the Jets. In his absence, we should see Jeff Wilson get the bulk of running back work with Ahmed filling the backup role. Wilson's fantasy outlook is capped by the likely negative game script against Buffalo. He's a volume-based play in DFS tournaments.

| Mike Williams downgraded to Out Won't travel with the team By: Mike Krueger | Jan 13 2023, 12:09 pm

|
#Chargers WR Mike Williams, who was previously listed as questionable with a back injury, will remain in Los Angeles to continue receiving treatment and has been downgraded to out for Saturday night's game in Jacksonville. (Tom Pelissero on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Playing Williams in a meaningless Week 18 game against the Broncos has come back to bite HC Brandon Staley. Williams injured his back and will now miss the Chargers Wildcard game against Jacksonville. In his absence, we should see an increase in opportunity for Josh Palmer who had four games of double-digit targets during the regular season while Williams and Keenan Allen battled injuries.

#Chargers WR Mike Williams (back) did not practice today and is questionable for Saturday. The team will give him up to game-time to be able to go vs. the #Jaguars. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Williams injured his back (spasms) in a meaningless Week 18 game against the Broncos and is now in danger of missing the team's Wildcard game against Jacksonville. If he sits, that will move Josh Palmer into a more prominent role and be a viable DFS and playoff league option this week.

| Tua Tagovailoa ruled Out, Skylar Thompson likely to start Teddy Bridgewater dealing with finger and knee issues By: Mike Krueger | Jan 11 2023, 11:40 am

Mike McDaniel says as of today they are preparing for rookie Skylar Thompson to start Sunday vs. Bills.
Teddy Bridgewater is preparing himself to be ready for Sunday but only if he has no setbacks. So team is prepping Skylar as QB1 this week as of now. (Cameron Wolfe on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Tua Tagovailoa is still in concussion protocol and has been ruled out for the Dolphins Wildcard game against the Bills. It sounds like Thompson is going to get the start but there is still hope for Teddy to be named the starter at the end of the week. He "cannot afford any setbacks" according to head coach Mike McDaniel.
