2020 Outlook
Depth Chart
With a high football IQ, experience in a pro system, and elite physical fights, Justin Jefferson was a dynamic force from the slot last season at LSU. Widely considered the best slot receiver in the draft, I would argue that Jefferson has a chance to be the most consistent fantasy receiver out of this year's rookie class. His ability to make contested catches, and his 4.4 speed mean the Vikings can use him and Adam Thielen all around the formation, and with little impact talent behind him on the depth chart, Jefferson is going to get plenty of chances to show his stuff. Although rookie receivers typically have a hard time adjusting to the speed and complexity of NFL defenses, four rookies (Metcalf, McLaurin, Samuel, and A.J. Brown) last season were fantasy difference makers right off the bat. I think 50 catches 600 yards and a few scores is the absolute floor for Jefferson this season. Being picked near the overall WR60 in early drafts, I think he has a chance to finish higher than that come season's end, and will be a serviceable WR3 on many teams come mid-season. He's got talent, opportunity, and a better than average quarterback, three things the other higher profile 1st round receivers can't all claim.

News From The Past 90 Days
Gary Kubiak expected to retire
Vikings will begin season with new OC for fifth straight season
By: Doug Orth | Mon Jan 4, 9:40 pm

Minnesota Vikings
Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Vikings offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak plans to retire. Kubiak, 59, became assistant head coach and offensive coordinator in 2020, a year after joining the team as assistant head coach and offensive advisor. (Pro Football Talk - Mike Florio)

FFToday's Take: Plenty of folks had issues with the Vikings in 2020 as they struggled to overcome a young defense in a rebuilding year, but there's no question Kubiak played a role in Dalvin Cook enjoying a career year and Justin Jefferson breaking Anquan Boldin's 17-year-old NFL record for most receiving yards by a rookie in the Super Bowl era. While Cook and Jefferson should be able to thrive in just about any offensive system, it's fair to expect both to take a hit statistically in 2021.

Injury Adam Thielen not expected to play
COVID-19 list
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Nov 27, 2:16 pm

Minnesota Vikings
Vikings WR Adam Thielen (COVID-19 list) not expected to play vs. Panthers, per @JFowlerESPN. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: This is a big blow for the Vikings offense as their receiver depth is limited. Justin Jefferson gets a bump in value with Olabisi Johnson and Chad Beebe helping to pick up the slack. The Panthers have been relatively stingy against fantasy wide receivers, allowing just 9 TDs to the position through 11 games.

Adam Thielen latest to hit COVID list
Sixth Minnesota player to land on list in the last month
By: Doug Orth | Mon Nov 23, 7:45 pm

Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings have placed WR Adam Thielen on Reserve/COVID-19. (Vikings.com)

FFToday's Take: It's not known if Thielen tested positive or was deemed a close contact - the distinction being that the former would rule him out for Week 12 while the latter would give him a chance to play against the Carolina Panthers. If Thielen misses Week 12, Justin Jefferson would step up into the lead role and a strong high-end WR2 consideration. Irv Smith might stand to benefit the most from a fantasy perspective, however.
