The Indianapolis Colts entered training camp last year unsure of who their quarterback was going to be -- Daniel Jones or the raw-but-still-promising Anthony Richardson. The team made its decision by mid-August, choosing Jones to lead the offense. Jones didn't disappoint. He guided the Colts to a 7-1 record before suffering a season-ending injury on December 7, while tossing 13 touchdowns against only three interceptions and providing unlikely production to fantasy teams everywhere. In fact, Jones played well enough that some were whispering about him as a midseason MVP candidate.

An Achilles tear in Week 14 at Jacksonville, however, prematurely ended the best season of Jones' career. There are expectations that he will participate in full-team practices at some point during training camp, which bodes well for his Week 1 availability. If that happens, fantasy managers should keep two things in mind. First, Jones' injury will almost certainly limit his mobility, at least early in the season. Second, losing Michael Pittman Jr. -- the team's leading receiver in 2025 -- is no small thing. A quarterback returning from a major lower-body injury, coupled with a thinned-out receiving corps, is not the ideal recipe for success. Jones' ranking as a bottom-half QB2 with upside makes him a worthwhile late-round gamble, but you'll want a dependable starter ahead of him. Counting on Jones as anything more than a matchup play early in the season could prove disastrous.

Injury Daniel Jones optimistic on Achilles rehab
"I’m doing everything. Cleared to do everything"
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Jul 10, 2:50 pm

Indianapolis Colts
#Colts QB Daniel Jones on his Achilles rehab: “I’m doing everything. Cleared to do everything. I think it’s just about, at this point, sharpening that.” Does he still think about his Achilles? “You’re still thinking about it. I think (you) probably will until you get playing.” (James Boyd on X)

FFToday's Take: In this Q&A session, Jones appears optimistic on his rehab from an Achilles tear suffered in early December last season, noting he's "cleared to do everything". We'll see how much he's limited once training camp begins, but current signs suggest he's got a chance to play in Week 1. He will be getting together with Colts receivers next week for a workout session.
