Houston Texans

Joe Mixon headed to NFI list
RB to miss at least first four games with ankle issue
By: Doug Orth | Aug 26 2025, 9:30 pm

Texans are not activating RB Joe Mixon by Tuesday’s 4 pm ET deadline, making him ineligible to play at least the first four games this season due to an ankle injury. Mixon will be moved to Reserve/Non-Football Injury, which automatically rules him out for at least four games. (ESPN - Adam Schefter)

FFToday's Take: By all accounts, Mixon did not participate in OTAs or has not practiced at all since the team reported to training camp. At this point, it would be shocking if he is ready to practice - much less play - by Week 5. Fantasy managers should not expect Mixon to contribute in a meaningful way until at least Week 8 - especially considering he has likely done little more than take mental reps in new OC Nick Caley's offense. Nick Chubb and Dameon Pierce - assuming the latter is not cut on Tuesday - is expected to handle most of the early-down work, while rookie Woody Marks should take most of the work in the passing game.

San Francisco

Jauan Jennings could be put on IR
WR dealing with calf injury and contract unhappiness
By: Doug Orth | Aug 25 2025, 2:00 pm

Jauan Jennings' lingering calf injury and long contractual stalemate with the 49ers could combine to send him to the injured reserve list this week, multiple NFL sources indicated over the past few days. Putting on Jennings on IR -- which would sideline him for at least the first four games of the regular season -- would hurt Jennings financially by severely reducing his chances at triggering incentives and game bonuses and also would leave the 49ers dangerously thin at wide receiver at the start of the season. The mentioning of IR by the 49ers ... could be a tacit threat to the Jennings camp to try to get him back on the practice field in time to be ready for Week 1. (The San Francisco Standard)

FFToday's Take: Fantasy managers should expect Jennings' calf injury to miraculously heal over the next week, although all the time that he has missed will probably result in HC Kyle Shanahan's early-season game plans focusing mostly on Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle and Ricky Pearsall in the passing game. Continue to draft Jennings as a WR4 in fantasy.

Dallas Cowboys

Jaydon Blue picks up sprained ankle in final pre-season game
Ready for Week 1?
By: Mike Krueger | Aug 24 2025, 10:30 am

#Cowboys RB Jaydon Blue suffered a low ankle sprain in Friday's preseason finale, per source. The rookie is hopeful to be ready for Week 1. (Jeremy Fowler on X)

FFToday's Take: It sounds like he avoided the dreadful high ankle sprain but Week 1 is no guarantee at this time. Given he played in the final preseason game, it appears he's behind Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders currently on the Cowboys depth chart. However, he's still worthy of a late-round flier in deep leagues given the overall weakness of the Cowboys RB room.

Los Angeles Chargers

Najee Harris ready for Week 1?
Yet to do anything meaningful on the practice field
By: Mike Krueger | Aug 23 2025, 11:50 pm

Los Angeles Chargers general manager Joe Hortiz said Saturday night that he is hopeful running back Najee Harris will play Week 1. "Najee's doing great, going through all the medical processes," Hortiz said. "But he's on track, and I think he should be able to go, hopefully in Week 1." Harris has been on the non-football injury/illness list for all of training camp after a July 4 fireworks mishap. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Harris returned to practice on August 12th but hasn't done much of anything expect work on the side with the training staff. He's a veteran, but it's hard to imagine him being ready Week 1 with so little time on the practice field with a new team. Given the lack of concrete news on his situation, all options remain on the table at this point including him landing on IR start the season or being active against the Chiefs in Week 1.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Chris Godwin unlikely to play until October
Will avoid PUP list to start the season
By: Mike Krueger | Aug 21 2025, 9:04 am

Sources: Buccaneers plan to activate WR Chris Godwin off the Physically Unable to Perform list and have him on their 53-man roster to start the season, but only to begin his ramp-up process for games, not to immediately play in them. Godwin still is unlikely to play until October as he continues recovering from the fractured ankle he suffered in Week 7 vs. the Ravens last season. He is expected to start practicing in Week 2, but the team thinks he is right where he should be at this time and is pleased with his recovery. (Adam Schefter on X)

FFToday's Take: Good to an update on the Godwin situation. Week 5 against the Seahawks seems like the game to target for his return. How long it takes him to get up to full speed will be a different story. In the meantime, expect rookie Emeka Egbuka to occupy a starting spot opposite Mike Evans. Egbuka's ADP (WR37, half-PPR) will continue to rise as we get set for a big draft weekend.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Jalen McMillan likely to miss half of the season
Suffered "severely sprained neck" in Week 2 preseason game
By: Doug Orth | Aug 19 2025, 3:20 pm

Jalen McMillan will be placed on injured reserve after suffering a “severely sprained neck,” against the Steelers and could be out past the Bucs Week 9 bye week, the Times has learned. Team still feels fortunate the injury wasn’t worse and have depth at WR starting with Mike Evans and Emeka Egbuka. Chris Godwin will eventually return from a dislocated ankle. But tough news for McMillan. (Tampa Bay Times - Rick Stroud)

FFToday's Take: As bad as this news is, McMillan was inches away from suffering a much worse injury. With Chris Godwin (ankle) still not practicing, the path is clear for Mike Evans and Emeka Egbuka to carry the bulk of the passing game through at least September. While McMillan's absence may free up another receiver to contribute (Sterling Shepard?), expect Cade Otton to see a few more targets than he would have received otherwise.

Minnesota Vikings

Justin Jefferson expected to return to practice soon
Minor hamstring has sidelined star WR lately
By: Doug Orth | Aug 18 2025, 9:40 pm

Justin Jefferson will begin to take part in practice this week, according to comments made by HC Kevin O'Connell. "He will begin to take part in practice. It will kind of a ramp-up ... but he will officially be back to work and be ramping up from here," O'Connell told reporters on Aug. 18. (Vikings.com)

FFToday's Take: The Vikings are understandably taking their time with Jefferson. Not only is he critical to the team's success, but he will be needed more than usual with Jordan Addison set to begin the season with a three-game suspension and Jalen Nailor considered week-to-week with a hand injury. Jefferson typically goes off the board in drafts within the first six picks and should be considered a huge value if he slips much past that.

Miami Dolphins

De'Von Achane nursing a calf injury
Absence from practice considered "preventative"
By: Doug Orth | Aug 18 2025, 9:30 pm

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said Dolphins RB De'Von Achane is dealing with a calf injury and likely will not practice this week McDaniel said this is "preventative in nature" especially because of how explosive of an athlete Achane is. (ESPN.com - Marcel Louis-Jacques)

FFToday's Take: Fantasy managers should be wary of soft-tissue injuries at this point of the preseason. While this issue sounds minor, even the most minor calf injuries tend to take a while to heal completely. No one should be overly surprised if Achane misses some time during the regular season due to an aggravation. For now, managers should proactively consider Jaylen Wright and Ollie Gordon a bit earlier in drafts.

Green Bay Packers

MarShawn Lloyd expected to miss some time
Hamstring injury
By: Mike Krueger | Aug 17 2025, 2:07 pm

Packers coach Matt LaFleur said Omar Brown (lung) is showing a lot of improvement but is staying overnight again in Indy and could come home tomorrow. Meanwhile, MarShawn Lloyd is “going to miss some time” with a hamstring injury. Same with Barryn Sorrell (knee). (Rob Demovsky on X)

FFToday's Take: Lloyd was injured in the Packers second pre-season game and it doesn't sound like he's going to be back at practice anytime soon. He only played in one game last season before suffering an ankle injury in Week 2 that knocked him out for the remainder of the season. At this point, Emanuel Wilson is the swing you want to take late in the drafts for contingent upside if you're targeting Green Bay running backs.

New York Giants

Malik Nabers dealing with "minor" back problem
Hasn't practiced in 11 days
By: Mike Krueger | Aug 17 2025, 1:58 pm

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers hasn't practiced in 11 days after dealing with what multiple sources told ESPN was a minor back problem. One source characterized it as "normal camp tightness." Nabers was held out of Saturday night's 31-12 win over the New York Jets. He has missed each of the Giants' first two preseason games. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: A few days missed during camp isn't typically a big deal but Nabers has missed enough time that it warrants attention. The Giants, along with most of the league, aren't quick to hand out details about their injured players especially at this time of the season when injury reports aren't required. It wouldn't be a shock if Nabers missed the final Giants pre-season game next week.

San Francisco

Brandon Aiyuk likely to return in early October
Shanahan: WR is "on track" to return around Week 6
By: Doug Orth | Aug 12 2025, 10:10 pm

Kyle Shanahan said all of the 49ers' ACL guys - including Brandon Aiyuk - are on track to be back around Week 6, he said. He said there's a range of weeks that Aiyuk could actually be back in a game, but that's the rough estimate at this point. (The Athletic - Matt Barrows)

FFToday's Take: This suggests that Jauan Jennings and Ricky Pearsall will each have a nice runway for the first half of the season if they can get healthy in time for Week 1. Given how uncertain Aiyuk's return date sounds, there is a world Jennings and Pearsall can operate as clear starters for at least half of the season. Outside of the receivers, Aiyuk's absence figures to boost the floors of Christian McCaffrey and George Kittle.

Green Bay Packers

Jordan Love going under the knife
Packers QB expected to return in a few days
By: Doug Orth | Aug 12 2025, 10:00 pm

Packers GM Brian Gutekunst said QB Jordan Love is undergoing a procedure on his left thumb. It’s a ligament issue. That’s why he had it taped yesterday in practice. Said the hope is for Love to return to practice next week. (ESPN - Rob Demovsky)

FFToday's Take: It appears to be a minor issue. Fantasy managers would be wise to monitor his practice participation next week, although the good news is that the injury is to his non-throwing hand. Until further notice, continue to draft Love as a high-end QB2.

Tennessee Titans

Tyjae Spears suffers sprained ankle
Preseason Week 1
By: Mike Krueger | Aug 9 2025, 11:45 pm

#Titans RB Tyjae Spears' initial injury diagnosis is a high ankle sprain per sources. (Turron Davenport on X)

FFToday's Take: We still need more information on Spears' injury but this isn't great news. Depending on the severity, Spears could be in danger of missing Week 1 which would leave Tony Pollard closer to a workhorse role. Spears dealt with ankle and hamstring injuries last season, playing in just 12 games.

Green Bay Packers

Jayden Reed dealing with sprained foot
Spotted in a walking boot
By: Mike Krueger | Aug 9 2025, 11:29 pm

Packers HC Matt LaFleur said he is hopeful that WR Jayden Reed will be ready for Week 1. Reed is dealing with a sprained foot that one source described as leaving him “day to day.” (Adam Schefter on X)

FFToday's Take: Reed did not play in the Packers pre-season Week 1 game Saturday against the Jets. LaFleur didn't describe the injury specifically so there's no real timetable for his return. The Packers have a number of options at the position including Romeo Doubs, Matthew Golden and Dontayvion Wicks who can handle receiving duties if Reed isn't ready for Week 1.

Buffalo Bills

Bills optimistic Khalil Shakir will be ready for Week 1
Ankle injury
By: Mike Krueger | Aug 7 2025, 9:07 am

Bills HC Sean McDermott said he’s being told as of now that WR Khalil Shakir should be on pace to return for the start of the season. Shakir is dealing with a high ankle sprain. (Joe Buscaglia on X)

FFToday's Take: High ankle sprains can linger so even if Shakir is ready for Week 1, it doesn't mean he's going to be near 100 percent. However, it does sound like the Bills will have their top wideout in some capacity to start the season. Shakir went down in practice on 8/3. His value is currently hovering around WR44 in half-PPR leagues.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Emeka Egbuka the talk of training camp
QB and GM thrilled with rookie's readiness
By: Doug Orth | Aug 4 2025, 5:00 pm

The Bucs surprised many when they used the No. 19 pick in April to select WR Emeka Egbuka. They'd just re-signed Chris Godwin to a three-year contract, they still have veteran Mike Evans playing well and their 2024 third-round pick, Jalen McMillan, caught seven touchdown passes in their final five games of the season. Some wondered if the Egbuka pick meant they were worried about Godwin's recovery from his season-ending ankle injury. But again, they just gave Godwin a three-year deal, so they couldn't be that worried. My takeaway from my time in Tampa is that the Egbuka pick wasn't about Godwin as much as it's about Evans, who turns 32 later this month and has reached the point of his career when he's deciding year-to-year how long he wants to continue. It was also about the need for depth at that position. But more than anything, it was about Egbuka, who is the talk of training camp. (ESPN.com - Dan Graziano)

FFToday's Take: Graziano goes on to say that while the Bucs aren't counting out Godwin for Week 1, they believe there's a chance he could miss a couple of games at the start of the season. He also expects Egbuka to be a big part of things for whatever time Godwin is out, and maybe even once he's back. Godwin appears to be a total wild card at this point, if only because he will need some time to ramp up and become a full-time player, and that's only if he doesn't have a setback. Egbuka is not a player fantasy managers should feel obligated to reach for (at least not yet), but he should be going much higher than his current Round 9-10 ADP.

Buffalo Bills

Khalil Shakir week-to-week with high ankle sprain
Bills top wideout will be held out of camp
By: Mike Krueger | Aug 3 2025, 10:39 am

Bills WR Khalil Shakir is week to week with a high ankle sprain (Joe Buscaglia on X)

FFToday's Take: Shakir missed a week (5) last season with an ankle injury as well. This version is likely to keep him out most if not all of training camp. Shakir led the Bills last season in receptions (76) and yards (821) in 15 games played. This injury will ding his fantasy value and lower his ADP which currently sits at WR44, 86th overall in Half-PPR leagues.

Baltimore Ravens

Isaiah Likely will miss time due to foot injury
Surgery to fix broken bone in foot
By: Mike Krueger | Jul 30 2025, 7:40 am

#Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely suffered a small foot fracture during Tuesday’s practice, sources told @jamisonhensley and me. If all goes well, it’s an early season return and Week 1 is possible. (Jeremy Fowler on X)

FFToday's Take: Likely is scheduled to have surgery on his foot. The timetable for recovery is six weeks which gives him a chance to be available for Week 1. Even if he's ready for the start of the season, a slow or limited start should be expected. He's lost some of his ceiling but Likely should still be considered a strong TE2 by mid-season.

Los Angeles Rams

Matthew Stafford limited by back soreness
Week to week
By: Mike Krueger | Jul 26 2025, 7:45 pm

Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, who is dealing with back soreness, will not return to practice next week as anticipated, coach Sean McVay said Saturday. Even after Stafford returns to practice, the Rams intend to keep the quarterback on a modified schedule. On Saturday, McVay said Stafford did not experience a setback, but that it feels like "the smart thing to do a week at a time with him." (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: We'll see how long Stafford sits, but it would be nice to see him out there practicing and developing a rapport with Davante Adams. At this point, it doesn't sound like Stafford's in danger of missing Week 1 but this situation should be closely monitored.

Tennessee Titans

Treylon Burks injured: fractured collarbone
Expected to miss the start of the season at least
By: Mike Krueger | Jul 26 2025, 2:39 pm

#Titans WR Treylon Burks suffered a fractured collarbone here at their stadium practice, per me and @TomPelissero. Burks will undergo further tests, but he’s expected to miss the start of the season at least. A frustrating outcome for the young pass catcher. (Ian Rapoport on X)

FFToday's Take: Burks has struggled to stay on the field during his short three-year career never playing more than 11 games during a season. He was limited to 5 games last season due to a knee injury. The Titans will move forward with Tyler Lockett, rookie Elic Ayomanor and Van Jefferson all competing for targets behind Calvin Ridley.

Houston Texans

Joe Mixon dealing with frustrating foot injury
Out an extended period of time
By: Mike Krueger | Jul 26 2025, 1:36 pm

#Texans RB Joe Mixon, who is on the non-football injury list, is expected to be out an extended period of time with a frustrating foot injury, sources say. The Pro Bowler coming off a 1,000-yard season will be reevaluated closer to the season to determine his availability. (Ian Rapoport on X)

FFToday's Take: Not great. Mixon has handled 285 and 309 touches in each of the last two seasons. Being injured before we even get to Week 1 is an ominous sign. He's ADP will be falling in short order. Nick Chubb Woody Marks, and Dameon Pierce are next up on the depth chart. Chubb comes with his own injury history but has been working as the No.1 back thus far in training camp.

Atlanta Falcons

Darnell Mooney out a few weeks with shoulder injury
Falcons starting receiver
By: Mike Krueger | Jul 25 2025, 9:24 pm

#Falcons WR Darnell Mooney has a shoulder injury and will miss a few weeks. (Tom Pelissero on X)

FFToday's Take: "A few weeks" is going to drop Mooney's ADP as we roll into August. We're get likely to get more information on the specific injury soon. Perhaps an AC sprain? D.J. Chark was signed by Atlanta late this afternoon.

New York Jets

Justin Fields day-to-day with dislocated toe
Avoided serious injury
By: Mike Krueger | Jul 24 2025, 2:01 pm

UPDATE: After medical evaluation, QB Justin Fields sustained a dislocated toe in his right foot and will be day-to-day. Fields avoided serious injury and significant missed time. (New York Jets on X)

FFToday's Take: Having a dislocated toe in training camp doesn't sound great for a quarterback that derives a big chunk of his fantasy value with his rushing ability. Still, this doesn't sound like this will be a significant injury. Bullet dodged for the Jets starting quarterback.

Houston Texans

Joe Mixon on NFI list to start training camp
In a boot this Spring
By: Mike Krueger | Jul 23 2025, 10:17 am

Texans placed RB Joe Mixon on the Non-Football Injury list. Mixon was in a boot throughout the spring, but he is expected to be OK fairly soon. (Adam Schefter on X)

FFToday's Take: It's not ideal to have Mixon missing the start of training camp with a relatively unknown injury, but it sounds like he should be back at camp soon. The Texans also have Nick Chubb, Woody Marks and Dameon Pierce on the roster.

New England Patriots

Diggs set to practice when Patriots open camp Wednesday
ACL recovery
By: Mike Krueger | Jul 22 2025, 8:22 am

New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who reported to training camp Saturday with other rehabilitating players, is cleared to practice for the first day of training camp Wednesday, according to a source. Diggs tore his right ACL in Week 8 of last season with the Houston Texans. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Diggs (31) has avoided the PUP list as the Patriots get set to open up camp. This is good news for the projected top wideout in the New England offense who sits atop the depth chart above Mack Hollins, Demario Douglas and Kyle Williams. It would be wise to project a slow start for Diggs but he's comfortably in the WR3 / Flex range for now.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

No team activities for Chris Godwin when camp begins
Dislocated ankle
By: Mike Krueger | Jul 21 2025, 1:00 pm

Chris Godwin will be held out of team-related activities to begin training camp while he recovers from a dislocated ankle. Bucs veterans report to camp Tuesday with the first workout scheduled Wednesday morning. Godwin, 29, will work with trainers rehabbing the injury he sustained in Week 7 last season against the Ravens. (Tampa Bay Times)

FFToday's Take: Godwin will be eased into camp and likely see his workload increase as the Summer moves along. GM Jason Licht said "we're hopeful it's Week 1 but nobody can guarantee that". It wouldn't be a shock if Godwin missed the first couple weeks but that's just speculation. Rookie Emeka Egbuka is capable of filling Godwin's role and the team also has Jalen McMillan fourth on the depth chart.

Tennessee Titans

Will Levis out for the season, shoulder injury
Will have surgery on July 29
By: Mike Krueger | Jul 21 2025, 9:55 am

#Titans QB Will Levis will undergo surgery on his throwing shoulder, sources say, ending his 2025 season. Surgery is July 29. Levis has elected to have the procedure to ensure long-term health, based on medical opinions, one that should help him be ready for the 2026 season. (Ian Rapoport on X)

FFToday's Take: Levis has been battling this shoulder issue since last season and reportedly is still feeling discomfort. Cam Ward is expected to be the starter for the Titans in Week 1 but the team will now have to decide on their backup quarterback. Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle are currently on the roster.

Los Angeles Chargers

Najee Harris likely to being training camp on NFI list
Eye injury
By: Mike Krueger | Jul 16 2025, 4:22 pm

#Chargers GM Joe Hortiz said Najee Harris (eye) will likely begin training camp on NFI. Harris is expected to report to The Bolt later today, per Hortiz. Harris has been receiving treatment from doctors at Stanford. (Daniel Popper on X)

FFToday's Take: 4th of July gone wrong. Harris' stay on the NFI list is expected to be short according to Ian Rapoport. The fact that Harris will be missing at least a portion of camp will knock his ADP down a bit for the time being as he competes with rookie Omarion Hampton for touches in the Chargers backfield.

Indianapolis Colts

More shoulder issues for Anthony Richardson
Expected to be back during training camp
By: Mike Krueger | Jun 5 2025, 12:51 pm

Colts HC Shane Steichen said QB Anthony Richardson is dealing with a shoulder injury and will not participate in mini-camp next week. (Adam Schefter on X)

FFToday's Take: Here we go again. Reportedly, Richardson had some aggravation to his right shoulder last week - the same shoulder he's had an issue with in the past. This will set him back in open QB competition with Daniel Jones. Jones has the current advantage while Richardson's fantasy stock is on the decline.

New Orleans

Derek Carr decides to retire from the NFL
Shoulder injury
By: Mike Krueger | May 10 2025, 10:43 am

Derek Carr has announced his retirement. In late March, while ramping up his preparation for the 2025 season, Derek experienced pain in his right shoulder. Eventually, medical scans determined objectively that Derek sustained a labral tear and also had significant degenerative changes to his rotator cuff. Upon consultation with his wife, Heather, Derek has decided it is in the best interests of both his family and the Saints organization to retire from the National Football League. (New Orleans Saints on X)

FFToday's Take: Carr (34) was more than likely going to miss the 2025 season if he decided on surgery to fix his shoulder. Instead, he decides to call it a career and pass the torch to Spencer Rattler, Jake Haener or rookie Tyler Shough to lead the Saints at quarterback. Haener and Rattler didn't exactly light the world on fire last season, both completed well below 60 percent of their passes. Expect Shough to have a good shot a starting Week 1.

Carolina Panthers

Jonathon Brooks will miss the 2025 season
Placed on PUP list
By: Mike Krueger | May 8 2025, 12:58 pm

Panthers placed RB Jonathon Brooks on the physically unable to perform list, meaning he now will be out for the 2025 season. Brooks tore his ACL during Week 14 last season. By being placed on PUP now, Brooks will be given time to get healthy after his second ACL tear in as many years. (Adam Schefter on X)

FFToday's Take: Brooks managed to play just three games last season before tearing his ACL again. Brooks is obviously off the redraft radar for the upcoming season and dynasty owners will have to wait until 2026 for any production from the Carolina RB. The Panthers currently have Chuba Hubbard, Rico Dowdle and rookie Trevor Etienne in their running back room.

San Francisco

No restrictions for Christian McCaffrey
Missed 13 games in 2024
By: Mike Krueger | Apr 22 2025, 4:46 pm

Christian McCaffrey just spoke to reporters. He said he's feeling good and has no health-related restrictions after a 2024 season in which he missed eight games with Achilles tendonitis and another five with a knee injury. He said the attendance today was impressive. (Matt Barrows on X)

FFToday's Take: McCaffrey was limited to just four games last season and failed to score a touchdown after having Achilles' issues during training camp. He's expected to participate in on-field activities once the 49ers begin practice.

San Francisco

Deebo looking to move on from San Francisco
49ers granted Deebo permission to find a trade partner
By: Mike Krueger | Feb 9 2025, 11:37 am

The 49ers have granted Deebo Samuel and his agent Tory Dandy permission to find a trade partner for the wide receiver, Samuel told ESPN. This comes after Samuel asked San Francisco to trade him during the players’ exit meetings after the season. “It was a hard conversation to have with Kyle (Shanahan) because of the relationship that we have,” Samuel said today. “But I have to do what’s best. I’m more than thankful for the Niners giving me the opportunity of a lifetime, but now I think it’s best that we find another team.” (Adam Schefter on X)

FFToday's Take: Deebo has only topped 1000 yards receiving once in his career but has been involved enough in the rushing game to make him a borderline WR1/2 over the last few years. However, 2024 was a supreme disappointment, ranking 48th in fantasy points per game (half-ppr) with just 51 receptions and 4 TDs. Deebo joins Cooper Kupp as veteran wide receivers on the trade market.

Cincinnati Bengals

Bengals' TE Erick All expected to miss 2025 season
Complications from ACL injury
By: Mike Krueger | Jan 28 2025, 12:53 pm

#Bengals' rookie TE Erick All Jr. is expected to miss the 2025 season due to his ACL injury suffered Nov. 3. All's injury exposed a complicated fix from a previous ACL tear and requires two surgeries. (Paul Dehner Jr. on X)

FFToday's Take: All suffered a torn ACL on November 3rd and needs two surgeries to correctly heal his knee. He's already had one surgery and will have another in a few months. The Bengals like his blocking ability in the run game but it remains to be seen how much he'll be involved as a receiver. Either way, we're going to have to wait until the 2026 season to find out. Mike Gesicki was used this season as the receiving tight end but will be a free agent this off-season.

Houston Texans

Tank Dell's outlook for 2025 season in doubt
Suffered serious knee injury in Week 16 loss to KC
By: Doug Orth | Jan 20 2025, 5:20 pm

DeMeco Ryans says it's too early to put a timeline on whether Tank Dell will play in 2025. He didn't want to speculate on whether they'd need to find receiver because of that. But added they'd look to improve their team in all areas. (Jonathan Alexander on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: At the very least, Dell should not be expected to play for the first half of next season. Perhaps he can play a bit role late in the season - not unlike what Tyler Higbee did for the Rams this season - but even that seems unlikely given how serious Dell's injury was. Houston will likely try hard to re-sign Stefon Diggs (ACL) and could even invest a Day 2 or early Day 3 draft pick into the position after John Metchie, Robert Woods and Xavier Hutchinson failed to distinguish themselves.

Baltimore Ravens

Zay Flowers misses practice Thursday
Knee injury
By: Mike Krueger | Jan 16 2025, 2:10 pm

Pro Bowl WR Zay Flowers is the only Ravens player not practicing Thursday. Flowers hasn’t practiced since injuring his knee in the regular season finale 12 days ago. Ravens play at Bills in a divisional round game Sunday. (Jamison Hensley on X)

FFToday's Take: Flowers missed the Ravens Wildcard game and is in danger of missing their Divisional Round matchup against the Bills. The Ravens used a run-heavy gameplan against the Steelers and could do the same this weekend if Flowers sits. We'll have another update on Flowers after practice on Friday.

Green Bay Packers

Jayden Reed not seriously hurt in Wild Card Round
WR will not need surgery on his injured shoulder
By: Doug Orth | Jan 13 2025, 4:20 pm

Jayden Reed says he won’t need surgery on his shoulder. “Thank God for that.” (Packers.com - Wes Hodkiewicz fun)

FFToday's Take: Reed figures to be a polarizing player in upcoming fantasy drafts. His star quickly ascended after going 64-793-8 as a rookie, but his usage dipped in a big way over the second half of this season as Green Bay became more of a run-heavy team. The primary reason why he could be a polarizing figure is because Christian Watson's knee injury will likely sideline him for most of the 2025 season, which should allow Reed more opportunities. Watson's absence alone may be enough to get Reed back into the high-end WR3 conversation.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Cade Otton listed as Questionable
Two full practices to end the week
By: Mike Krueger | Jan 10 2025, 4:14 pm

S Antoine Winfield Jr., CB Jamel Dean, TE Cade Otton and S Mike Edwards all had full participation Friday but are questionable for Sunday’s game. DL Logan Hall was limited but also questionable. It’s about as healthy as the Bucs have been all season. (Rick Stroud on X)

FFToday's Take: HC Todd Bowles said Otton was "trending in the right direction" for Sunday. The Bucs tight end suffered a knee injury in Week 15 and hasn't played since but did get in two full practices to end the week. He'll be a risky option this if week if he's able to suit up against the Commanders.

Baltimore Ravens

Zay Flowers out for Wildcard Weekend
Knee injury

WR Zay Flowers (knee) has been ruled out for Saturday’s game against the Steelers, coach John Harbaugh said. (Jamison Hensley on X)

FFToday's Take: This is a big loss for the Ravens as Flowers led the team in receptions (74) and receiving yards (1059) during the season. Rashod Bateman becomes the de facto No.1 receiver for Lamar Jackson but expect to see a lot of two tight ends on the field with Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely. Harbaugh also stated that RB Justice Hill will be back for this game.

David Montgomery should be ready for Divisional Round
RB making solid progress in recovery from MCL injury

Lions head coach Dan Campbell told reporters on Tuesday that he expects David Montgomery to be ready to play when top-seeded Detroit hosts its Divisional Round playoff opener in two weeks. "I do," Campbell said quite simply and confidently when asked if he thought Montgomery would be available. (NFL.com)

FFToday's Take: Montgomery brings a level of power running not many in the league provide, but the Lions' offense should be in good shape regardless of whether he can play next week. The bigger question is if Montgomery will be fully recovered just over a month after suffering the injury. If not, he could play more of a complementary role to Jahmyr Gibbs, who once again proved he is more than capable of being a featured back during Montgomery's absence.
