The "rookie tight ends can be productive players" myth has evaporated the last few seasons, with Sam LaPorta, and Brock Bowers having historical statistical finishes. Loveland was a surprise pick by the Bears, but it's clear the team has a clear plan for the rookie from Michigan. Playing more like a big wideout, than inline tight end, Loveland has the athletic traits and offensive scheme to have a solid fantasy ceiling in his first season. Like LaPorta in his rookie year, Loveland will be surrounded by more "flashy" teammates who will tend to draw the attention of the defense. Loveland can use his frame, and separation ability to take advantage of lesser defenders in the short and intermediate parts of the field, and be an asset in the red zone. While he won't impress anyone with his blocking ability, he will have to hold off a well-paid vet to earn consistent playing time. That, and volume are the biggest roadblocks to Loveland being more than a TE2 early on.

D.J. Moore on the move to Buffalo Bears get 2026 second-round pick By: Mike Krueger | Thu Mar 5, 12:31 pm

| | Done deal: The Bills are sending a 2026 second-round pick to the Bears for WR D.J. Moore and a 2026 fifth-round pick, per sources.
A pick swap that gives Chicago extra draft ammo and Buffalo a new top receiver. (Tom Pelissero on X)
FFToday's Take: The Bears have plenty of receiving weapons with Rome Odunze, Luther Burden III and TE Colston Loveland in the mix. By trading away Moore, the get rid of his big contract and pickup a 2nd round pick in the upcoming draft. The Bills get an upgrade in their wide receiver room although has been inconsistent at times, displaying bad body language and coming off a down season (50-682-6) in 2025 were he finished as the WR32 in half-ppr leagues.

| Rome Odunze off the injury report for Wildcard Weekend Last played in Week 13 By: Mike Krueger | Thu Jan 8, 2:29 pm

| | Lots of good news on the #Bears injury report, as WRs Rome Odunze (foot) and D.J. Moore (knee) are both off the report and good to go. DB Kyler Gordon is questionable, but a full participant and likely to be activated. (Ian Rapoport on X)
FFToday's Take: Odunze has been bothered by a foot injury and last played in Week 13. In his absence, the passing offense has largely shifted towards rookie Luther Burden III and TE Colston Loveland. It's difficult to see a ceiling game coming from Odunze in his first game back, especially in an offense with plenty of weapons. He's probably more of a WR2 option even in a week with a limited player pool.

| Rome Odunze, Luther Burden ruled Out for Week 16 Bears down two starting receivers By: Mike Krueger | Thu Dec 18, 2:27 pm

| | Bears WRs Rome Odunze (Foot) and Luther Burden III (Ankle) both ruled out for Saturday vs. Packers. (Tom Pelissero on X)
FFToday's Take: The Bears will be shorthanded when they face the Packers on Saturday night. Neither wideout practiced this week. Without Odunze and Burden, the Bears will be counting on D.J. Moore and Olamide Zaccheaus to fill the wide receiver void. TE Colston Loveland could also see increased targets.
