The potential improvement along the interior of the offensive line would benefit the running game more than anything else. Kamara could use a few more wide-open holes so he could bust some longer runs. During his rookie season, Kamara averaged 6.1 yards per carry, but in the past two seasons that has fallen to 4.6 and 4.7, respectively. The main difference seems to be tied to his inability to break off long runs, which ties back to his number of opportunities to get into wide open space.
The improvement in the passing game that could come with Emmanuel Sanders in town could also help to provide Kamara with some extra room to work. Despite the decrease in his efficiency, Kamara has still been quite effective, finishing with 1,592 and 1,330 total yards from scrimmage the past two seasons. But along with his decrease in rushing efficiency, he has also seen his receiving efficiency fall. His yards per reception has gone from 10.2 to 8.8 to 6.6 over the past three seasons. Since it does not look like he has lost explosiveness, it is up to the Saints' coaching staff to find ways to get him in the open field so he can produce big chunk plays more often.
Because he has regular involvement in the passing game (he has posted exactly 81 receptions in every season of his career), his floor is very high and he is a very safe pick, as long as he can stay healthy. He is going in the middle of the first round of fantasy drafts right now, so drafters agree that he is very safe and also has huge upside. I am also comfortable taking him there, and believe he will see some positive regression in 2020, leading to both more efficiency and to more trips to the end zone.

Latavius Murray, Taysom Hill likely to sit Both practiced on Friday By: Mike Krueger | Sun Jan 17, 7:00 am

| | The #Saints are not likely to have QB Taysom Hill (knee) or RB Latavius Murray (quadricep) vs the #Bucs, per me and
@SlaterNFL. Both practiced only on Friday and were listed as questionable. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: All aboard the Alvin Kamara train. Murray and Hill are both goaline TD vultures for Kamara so having them out should pave the road for Kamara around the goaline. Kamara is easily the best running back play of the Sunday slate.

| Entire Saints RB group placed on COVID-19 list Only Kamara tested positive, others are close contacts By: Mike Krueger | Sat Jan 2, 11:36 am

| | The entire Saints RB room won’t be available tomorrow bc of close contact to Alvin Kamara. Latavius Murry, Michael Burton, Dwayne Washington, RB coach all out tomorrow @NFLonFOX. They are moving Ty Montgomery to RB and calling up practice squad R.B (Jay Glazer on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: This isn't the same situation Denver faced with their quarterback room a few weeks ago but it's close. Ty Montgomery will be shifted to running back and the team is calling up Tony Jones Jr. from the practice squad. Taysom Hill is also capable of carrying the football. Montgomery is a consideration in DFS at the stone minimum on DraftKings.

| Alvin Kamara lands on COVID-19 list Could play in Wildcard game is Saints play on Sunday By: Mike Krueger | Fri Jan 1, 4:50 pm

| | Saints’ RB Alvin Kamara tested positive again and will be placed on Reserve/COVID, per source. He’s out Sunday and now the question will be whether he reruns for the first playoff game. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Kamara will miss the regular season finale and could miss the Saints Wildcard game unless the Saints play on Sunday. New Orleans would have to get a break from the schedule maker and Kamara would need to remain symptom free in order for that to happen. Latavius Murray becomes a very viable DFS play against the Panthers this week.

| Saints rule out Michael Thomas Missed practice all week with ankle injury By: Mike Krueger | Fri Dec 18, 4:03 pm

| | Saints’ ruled out WR Michael Thomas for Sunday’s game vs. the Chiefs. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: This is a significant blow to the Saints offense and to Thomas' fantasy owners. Expect Alvin Kamara to soak up targets from Drew Brees along with increased work for Emmanuel Sanders and tight end Jared Cook. The Chiefs have given up the 7th most fantasy points to tight ends.

| Drew Brees will start for the Saints against KC Rib injury By: Mike Krueger | Fri Dec 18, 9:38 am

| | Drew Brees will be the Saints’ starting QB Sunday vs. the Kansas City Chiefs, source tells ESPN. Saints believe he is fully healthy and doctors have cleared him to play. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Shefter goes on to say that Jameis Winston will be the backup quarterback with Taysom Hill playing his typical swiss army knife role. This move does help the fantasy floors of Alvin Kamara, Michael Thomas and Jared Cook in what should be a high-scoring game against the Chiefs. Brees checks in as a solid QB2 with low-end QB1 upside.

| Alvin Kamara misses practice Thursday Foot injury By: Mike Krueger | Thu Nov 19, 4:28 pm

| | Saints running back Alvin Kamara (foot) says he's doing good, he's all right, and that the foot injury is indeed the same thing he was dealing with last week.
He did not practice today. (Amie Just on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: It sounds like the Saints are just resting their star running back. Expect him to be listed as questionable on the injury report Friday but play on Sunday against the Falcons.

| Michael Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders practice Wednesday Kamara misses with minor foot issue By: Mike Krueger | Wed Nov 4, 3:40 pm

| | Saints RB Alvin Kamara wasn’t present for the early portion of practice open to the media Wednesday. Will get the practice report soon to find out why. There was no known injury in Sunday’s game. Good news: WRs Michael Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders, Marquez Callaway were participating. (Mike Triplett on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Time will tell is Thomas (hamstring, ankle) is able to play this week but we should get Sanders back against the Bucs. Kamara has a bone bruise on his foot but it isn't expected to affect his status for Week 9.

| Michael Thomas, Marquez Callaway Out for Week 8 Thomas limited in practice this week By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 30, 3:58 pm

| | The Saints have officially ruled out WRs Michael Thomas and Marquez Callaway for Sunday at Chicago. And WR Emmanuel Sanders remains on the reserve-COVID list. So expect a heavy dose of Alvin Kamara, Jared Cook, Tre’Quan Smith and Deonte Harris in the passing game. (Mike Triplett on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: The frustration for Thomas owners continues. Thomas got in some limited work this week but won't be on the field this Sunday due to his hamstring injury. With Callaway (ankle) and Sanders (COVID) also out, it will be Tre'Quan Smith and Deonte Harris doing most the damage from the wide receiver spot. Both are sketch flex options given Kamara and TE Jared Cook should be the top two options in the offense against the Bears.
