2022 Outlook
Depth Chart
Kamara is electric when he's on the field. The question for fantasy owners this season is, will he be on the field? And if so, when? Kamara is facing felony battery charges stemming from an incident at the Pro Bowl in Las Vegas this winter. His hearing has been pushed to August 1st, which means the trial will be later. He's likely facing an NFL suspension of up to six games, but not until the legal process has run its' course. That's a risky scenario, not unlike the one the Browns are facing in Cleveland with Deshaun Watson.

The five-time Pro Bowler has never had a 1,000-yard rushing season, but he did turn in three 100-yard rushing days in 2021. His value is in his receiving skills, run after the catch, and overall versatility. He's had five straight seasons of at least 1,300 total yards and has scored 30 times in the last two years. The Saints scheme to get him in space and let him be a playmaker, which works to his strengths.

Without the legal issue, he's a viable top five RB in all formats. But until his off the field situation is sorted out, he's a very risky play early in your draft.

Injury Mark Ingram out with MCL tear
Likely done for the season
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Dec 7, 12:12 pm

New Orleans
#Saints RB Mark Ingram suffered a slight tear of his MCL in the loss to the #Bucs, sources say, knocking him out indefinitely and likely ending his season. He’s out 4-6 weeks, but no surgery. With the regular season only being five more weeks, Ingram is almost certainly done. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Ingram had a significant role this past week, playing 42% of the snaps including a lot of passing downs. Will we see Alvin Kamara back in a workhorse role? The Saints are lacking in depth at the position so it's definitely a possibility when they come out of their bye in Week 15.

Injury Andy Dalton to start, Michael Thomas Out
Foot injury for Thomas
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 14, 3:00 pm

New Orleans
Saints coach Dennis Allen said they’re anticipating that Andy Dalton will start at QB again Sunday. Said WR Michael Thomas is getting better but not there yet. (Mike Triplett on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The Saints will once again be without quarterback Jameis Winston and receiver Michael Thomas. Chris Olave suffered a concussion last week and hasn't cleared the protocol yet but hasn't been ruled out either. We can expect a whole lot of Alvin Kamara against the Bengals.

Injury Jameis Winston, Michael Thomas miss practice Wednesday
Both missed Week 4
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Oct 5, 3:23 pm

New Orleans
Jameis Winston and Michael Thomas were not at practice today. Alvin Kamara and Marcus Maye were back on the field. (Nick Underhill on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Both players missed Week 4 against the Vikings so the week isn't getting off to a great start for them. Winston (back) missed all of practice last week and Thomas sat out with a toe injury. Rookie Chris Olave is the wide receiver to own in New Orleans.

Injury Alvin Kamara is Out for Week 4
Still battling rib issue
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Oct 2, 7:46 am

New Orleans
#Saints Coach Dennis Allen just confirmed to me Alvin Kamara will NOT play today (ribs). Jarvis Landry (ankle) will play. #MINvsNO (Stacey Dales on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: the Saints are going with the JV team in London today. Jameis Winston, Michael Thomas and now Kamara will all sit. Andy Dalton, Mark Ingram, Chris Olave and Jarvis Landry should be the leading fantasy point producers against the Vikings. Ingram slides in as a Flex consideration. Latavius Murray has been elevated from the practice squad.

Injury Michael Thomas Out, Jameis Winston listed as Doubtful
Andy Dalton likely to get the start
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Sep 30, 9:37 am

New Orleans
Saints’ HC Dennis Allen told reporters that WR Michael Thomas is out Sunday vs. the Vikings. Saints also believe it’s doubtful that Jameis Winston, who didn’t practice today for a third straight day, will play Sunday, which makes it likely that QB Andy Dalton will start vs. the Vikings. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Thomas is dealing with a foot injury and didn't practice all week. His absence should create more room for Alvin Kamara to get involved in the pass game. Chris Olave and Jarvis Landry are both fantasy viable in their matchup against the Vikings in London. Dalton is likely to get the start at quarterback and makes for viable QB2 option.

Injury Alvin Kamara not expected to play
Rib cartilage injury
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Sep 18, 8:00 am

New Orleans
Saints’ RB Alvin Kamara, listed as questionable for Sunday due to a rib injury, is not expected to play vs. the Buccaneers, per source. Saints’ RB Mark Ingram, also listed as questionable for Sunday due to an ankle injury, is expected to to play vs. the Buccaneers, per source. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Ian Rapoport is reporting that Kamara has a rib cartilage injury and the team will decide this morning if he can play. It doesn't sound likely. Mark Ingram (ankle) is expected to play with Tony Jones and Dwayne Washington playing in a backup role. Ideally, Ingram would be a Flex option for lineup against the Bucs.

Injury Alvin Kamara missed practice Friday, Questionable
Rib injury
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Sep 16, 4:16 pm

New Orleans
A lot of Saints listed as questionable this week. But based on Alvin Kamara not practicing Thursday and Friday, I’d consider him more of a doubtful - while Jameis Winston and Mark Ingram feel more probable. (Mike Triplett on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: We should get some clarity on Kamara by Sunday morning but it isn't look great at the moment considering he missed practice Thursday and Friday. Ingram and Tony Jones would be the next running backs up with Latavius Murray waiting to be called up from the practice squad.

Injury Alvin Kamara misses practice on Thursday
Rib injury
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Sep 15, 3:53 pm

New Orleans
Saints RB Alvin Kamara downgraded to a DNP in Thursday’s practice with his rib injury, which puts a question mark on his status for Sunday vs. Tampa Bay. (Mike Triplett on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Kamara was limited in practice Wednesday so his availability for Week 2 (vs TB) in certainly in question. Kamara was in on 62% of the snaps Week 1 with Mark Ingram (33%) and Tony Jones (1%) the only other RBs to see the field. Ingram (ankle) was also limited in practice. Friday's practice report will give us a better indication of their status.
