Travis Hunter is the wild card on this offense. The gifted two-way player spent time during the Jags' recent minicamp on both sides of the ball, further fueling expectations that he will be used in some capacity like he was used in college but more focused on offense.
The question remains, though: How will a 22-year-old rookie fare in the NFL if he plays offense and defense? We only have Deion Sanders and, to a lesser degree, Charles Woodson as examples in modern times, but even they played the bulk of their time on defense. That question will remain through draft season and will only be revealed, of course, during the season. That means whoever drafts Hunter will do so not fully understanding how it will play out. But considering Hunter is viewed at this point as a low-end WR3, perhaps it's a risk worth taking.
The other question to ask is: If Brian Thomas Jr. continues ascending, how much production would be left for Hunter? It's a real concern but one that could pay off handsomely should Hunter become a force on offense. Hunter is one of those players that you wait and wait and wait on, and if it reaches a certain point in the draft where he is still available - Round 9 or 10 perhaps - you grab him.

Travis Hunter to focus on defense in 2026? GM hints No. 2 overall pick may play more CB than WR next year By: Doug Orth | Mon Jan 26, 8:00 pm

| | At his season-ending news conference, general manager James Gladstone said Travis Hunter would be a two-way player again in 2026. Whether he'll be a cornerback first and then a receiver -- as Gladstone hinted -- or a receiver first and then a cornerback remains to be seen. He played 67% of the team's offensive snaps and 36% of the defensive snaps -- mainly coming in when the Jaguars were in nickel -- before the non-contact knee injury he suffered in practice on Oct. 30 required season-ending surgery.
But Gladstone indicated that it would be the reverse in 2026.
"Obviously you can take a peak at expiring contracts on our roster and see which side of the ball has more," he said "At this point walking into the offseason, corner is a position that we have a few guys who are on expiring contracts. By default, you can expect there to be a higher emphasis on his placement [at corner]." (ESPN.com - Michael DiRocco)
FFToday's Take: This potential development would have significantly more impact on Hunter's dynasty managers than any redraft manager. While Gladstone is focusing mostly on the expiring contracts of his team, some of the impetus for this decision likely comes as a result of how well Jakobi Meyers and Parker Washington played down the stretch. It would make very little sense for him to mess with that, especially since the team also has Brian Thomas Jr. at receiver at well. More Hunter at CB means Meyers and Washington could me very good mid-round values in early drafts.

| Travis Hunter expected to play WR & CB next season Rehab going as expected By: Mike Krueger | Wed Jan 14, 10:29 am

| | Jaguars GM James Gladstone says WR/CB Travis Hunter rehab from torn LCL is going "as expected" & will play both ways next season.
Hunter played 67% of offensive snaps & 36% def snaps in his 7 games.
Expect Hunter to play much more defense in 2026 - bigger need position changed. (Cameron Wolfe on X)
FFToday's Take: The Jags upgraded their wide receiver room during the 2025 season by adding Jakobi Meyers from the Raiders and signing him to a three-year contract extension. With Parker Washington's late season surge and Brian Thomas Jr. in the mix, it's going to be tough for Hunter to carve out a meaningful fantasy performance if he splits time and everyone remains healthy. We should get a better ready on the JAX receiver room later in the summer.

| Knee surgery for Travis Hunter, out for the season LCL repair By: Mike Krueger | Tue Nov 11, 3:02 pm

| | Sources: #Jaguars star CB/WR Travis Hunter underwent season-ending knee surgery, with eyes set on 2026. It was an LCL repair.
He’s expected to return within 6 months to full football activities. (Ian Rapoport on X)
FFToday's Take: There was some hope Hunter could return in a few weeks after suffering a knee injury in practice leading up to Week 9. Instead, that will be a wrap on Hunter's rookie season. The Jags will move forward with Brian Thomas Jr. (ankle), Parker Washington and Jakobi Meyers as their top three wideouts.

| Raiders send Jakobi Meyers to the Jaguars Las Vegas gets a 4th and 6th round pick By: Mike Krueger | Tue Nov 4, 11:29 am

| | ESPN sources: Raiders are trading WR Jakobi Meyers to the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for fourth- and sixth-round picks.
Multiple teams including the Steelers and Jaguars had shown interest in Meyers, who is scheduled to become a free agent after his contract expires this season. (Adam Schefter on X)
FFToday's Take: The Jags had 13 picks in the 2026 draft and have a need for a receiver given the injury to Travis Hunter and Brian Thomas Jr. suffering an ankle injury in Week 10. So, they swung a deal for Meyers who wanted out of Las Vegas. Given the state of the Jacksonville wide receiver room, it shouldn't take long for Meyers to see some action but it's difficult to get excited about his fantasy prospects. The Jaguars have upcoming games against @HOU, LAC and @ARI.

| Travis Hunter lands on IR with knee injury Injury suffered in practice Thursday By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 31, 10:48 am

| | The #Jaguars are placing WR/CB Travis Hunter on injured reserve because of a knee injury suffered in practice Thursday, coach Liam Coen said. He's out at least four games. (Tom Pelissero on X)
FFToday's Take: Ugh. We had indications that Hunter's workload was about to expand for the remainder of the season but that is now put on hold. Hunter will be eligible to return in Week 13. We should see target increases for Dyami Brown and Parker Washington while Hunter is on the sidelines.
