Fresh off a monster rookie season (112-1,194-5), Bowers opened 2025 with a 103-yard performance in a win over the Patriots. He'd sustain a knee injury during the game, however, and would be held under 50 yards each of the next three weeks before being shut down for a month. Bowers returned in Week 9, putting up a huge 12-127-3 line in what turned out to be his only other 100-plus-yard effort of 2025. He continued to battle a knee injury throughout November and December before the Raiders finally pulled the plug, placing him on IR before the final two games of the season.
The good news is that Bowers' knee troubles didn't require surgery, and he's back at full strength heading into training camp. That's great news for everyone involved with the Raiders as Bowers is a nightmare for defensive coordinators, drawing coverage and opening things up for everyone else. There could be some growing pains whenever the team decides Mendoza is ready to start, but bear in mind that tight ends often function as safety nets for young signal callers, so the presence of a rookie QB isn't necessarily a bad thing for Bowers' statistical prospects.
A year ago, Bowers was pretty much the consensus first tight end off the board. Now, Arizona's Trey McBride is in the conversation. There's real daylight between McBride/Bowers and everyone else, though, as long-time studs age out (Travis Kelce, George Kittle), borderline stars work their way back from injury (Sam LaPorta, Tucker Kraft), and young players look to establish themselves as reliable contributors (Tyler Warren, Harold Fannin Jr., Colston Loveland). Draft accordingly.

 Brock Bowers expected to play Week 3

|  | Raiders TE Brock Bowers (questionable, knee) is expected to play Sunday vs New Orleans barring a surprise, per source.
Head coach Klint Kubiak said this week he was optimistic about Bowers’ return, and the Raiders did not elevate a tight end like in previous weeks. (Jeremy Fowler on X)
FFToday's Take: Bowers was limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday and was held out Friday as part of the team's plan. It sounds like he's safe to be in your lineup but we should temper our expectations for any ceiling outcomes.

FFToday's Take: ESPN's Ryan McFadden noted that while Kubiak will listen to his trainers regarding Bowers' health, the latter will play in Week 2 against the Chargers "if he's ready." That is great news for fantasy managers who may have feared the worst when this injury was announced on Wednesday. While Kubiak could ease Bowers back into action, the likelihood is that the "football playing robot from heaven" will get fed. (After all, Michael Mayer led the team with seven targets in the opener.) With some negative game script expected in this one, expect Bowers to see 10-plus targets if he plays.

Had meniscus surgery on Tuesday

| | Raiders All-Pro tight end Brock Bowers underwent a meniscus trim Tuesday in Dallas with Dr. Daniel Cooper and now is expected to miss “a game or two”, league sources told @rapsheet and me. Bowers got banged up “a little in camp” and the injury was diagnosed last week and surgery scheduled. (Adam Schefter on X)
FFToday's Take: Bowers injured his knee in Week 1 of the 2025 season and tried playing through the injury for another few weeks. He ultimately missed 5 games, finishing as the TE10 and TE4 in fantasy points per game. We don't have a clear time table for a Bowers return, which means Michael Mayer becomes a viable option at the tight end position for the time being.
