Game Preview
Mike Krueger

Predicted Score: Cardinals 31, Rams 17

Arizona: The Cardinals continue with their QB-by-committee approach and it seems to be working. Their 21-14 win against Pittsburgh last Sunday has them off to a 2-2 start. Warner is clearly out-performing Leinart to this point but both remain bad fantasy plays due to their limited opportunities. This should be a good week for the Cardinals skill players as the winless Rams come calling without the services of Marc Bulger. Edgerrin James should post some nice numbers against the 2nd worst fantasy defense against running backs (26.8 fpts per game). Bryant Johnson would start at wide receiver if Anquan Boldin sits this game out with a bum hip.

  • Start: RB Edgerrin James, WR Larry Fitzgerald, WR Bryant Johnson
  • Consider: K Neil Rackers
  • Sit: QB Kurt Warner, QB Matt Leinart, TE Leonard Pope, WR Anquan Boldin(inj)

St. Louis: The winless Rams will have a new quarterback this week. Gus Frerotte will get the start while Marc Bulger tries to recover from two broken ribs. But don't expect the quarterback change to have any effect on the win-loss column. The Rams, who are riddled with injuries have not scored an offensive touchdown since Week 2 and in addition to Bulger, running back Steven Jackson and five offensive linemen have been lost to injury including OT Orlando Pace and Guard Adam Goldberg. Torry Holt and running back Brian Leonard will struggle to produce numbers as a result especially against an improving Cardinals defense. This one's a no-brainer.

  • Start: WR Torry Holt
  • Consider: RB Brian Leonard, WR Isaac Bruce,
  • Sit: QB Gus Frerotte, QB Marc Bulger (inj), RB Steven Jackson, WR Drew Bennett TE Randy McMichael, K Jeff Wilkins
