Alshon Jeffery

Alshon Jeffery has posted double-digit fantasy points in three out of his last four games.

Grab a Helmet

Jeremy Maclin/Jordan Matthews v. DAL: It’s hilarious to watch people stream into stores the second the gates open on a Black Friday, but that’s just the kind of speed and gusto I’d show getting these guys in my lineup this week. Maclin and Matthews have been fantasy starters and studs at times all year, so look for a heaping pile of points this week against a Dallas defense that continues to hover on life support. They combined for 12 catches for 159 yards and a score just a few weeks ago, and they should be even better this week. Fire them up as WR1 and WR2s respectively.

Donte Moncrief v. HOU:
Yeah, I’m playing a dangerous game here with Moncrief, a guy who has only seen more than five targets once this year, and has two monster games surrounded by irrelevancy, but Moncrief has clearly passed Hakeem Nicks for the No. 3 job, and with Reggie Wayne hosting a bevy of injuries, Moncrief could be poised for another move up the depth chart. A slightly bigger version of teammate T.Y. Hilton, Moncrief has speed to burn and has been a part of the gameplan with four targets in each of his last three games. The Texans flammable secondary (2nd most fantasy points given up to receivers) makes Moncrief a gamblers choice as a high upside WR3.

Alshon Jeffery v. NO: The pessimistic Jeffery owner sees the loss of Brandon Marshall as a chance for opposing defenses to focus their double teams on Jeffery, thus limiting his big play potential. The optimistic Jeffery owner looks at this situation as a chance for their man to soak up targets, especially in the red zone. With the tumultuous Saints secondary marching into town, not only is the glass half full, it’s overflowing with goodness. With double digit targets in three of his last six games, (Jeffery was getting plenty of love from Jay Cutler before Marshall was lost for the season) and five touchdowns in his last four games, there aren’t many receivers I’d take over Jeffery in the fantasy playoffs. WR1, here we come!

Grab Some Pine

Anquan Boldin/Michael Crabtree @ SEA: Like a mineshaft cave-in, the collapse of the 49ers offense has been dark, dirty and frightening. While it’s certainly possible a game against arch rival Seattle brings them to life, it’s equally likely I’ll be sitting in Santa’s sleigh flying around the world in a few weeks. The Niners haven’t scored more than 2 touchdowns on offense since Week 10, and look as out of sync as can possibly be. PPR, standard, or backyard flag league, keep any and all 49er skill position players out of your fantasy starting line-up this week.

DeSean Jackson @ NYG: The 49ers of the east, the Washington Redskins churned out a pitiful offensive performance in getting shutout last week against the Rams. Jackson missed the game with a leg injury, and while he’s on track to return this week, he faces off against a Giants team that smothered him in Week 4 (1 catch, 9 yards). Jackson has been the definition of boom or bust, and is big play dependent because he only averages 3.9 catches per game. With a leg injury and Giants secondary to slow him down, Jackson sits in only as a very risky WR3.

Larry Fitzgerald/Michael Floyd/John Brown @ STL (THUR): Predicting the Cardinals passing game usage is like trying to figure out New England’s running back rotation. Scheme, and the shaky play of Drew Stanton has made this group of receivers a fantasy mess. That doesn’t even take into account that this is a road game against a defensive unit that is playing like a buzz saw, destroying everything in their wake the last few weeks. The Cardinals have survived on grit and determination to stay in the playoff race, but your fantasy teams needs more than that this week in a huge game.
