2015 Outlook
Depth Chart
Jeffery’s sequel to his breakout 2013 was successful at the fantasy box office, as his 85-1,133-10 line was good enough for a WR1 finish in most standard leagues. He continued to show a refinement to his game, and the strong body control and point of attack skills that has kept his catch rate at 60 percent over the past two seasons. He’s built good chemistry over the last few seasons with Cutler, and he better have the trust of the gunslinger, as Jeffery slides into the No.1 receiving role for the Bears after the departure of Brandon Marshall.

With two consecutive WR1 finishes, Jeffery is no flash in the pan. It seems like a no brainer his production will increase or at the very least, stay the same now that he’s the team’s undisputed No.1 passing game option. He will fill the role of Demaryius Thomas in the Adam Gase pass offense, but I have to wonder just how effective he’ll be with most of the defensive focus on him. He’s enjoyed dominating alongside Brandon Marshall for two years, feasting on single coverage. He was solid, if not spectacular as the main man in weeks 13-17 last year when Marshall suffered a rib injury. He failed to top 75 yards, and his catch percentage actually dipped to a lackluster 41 percent. He did manage to score twice, and this is where I think Jeffery will continue to produce. While I foresee a possible dip in receptions and yards, Jeffery’s size and catch radius make him a brute in the red zone. He is a must start receiver in any format, but might linger right on the cusp of WR1 status, especially if Kevin White’s development accelerates.

Injury Alshon Jeffery expected to miss Week 4
Hamstring injury
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 2, 11:01 am

Chicgao Bears
Filed to ESPN: Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) expected to miss Sunday's game vs. #Raiders, per source. Team hopes he returns next week. (Jeff Dickerson on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: It was reported earlier this week that Jeffery had a good chance of playing against the Raiders but that won't happen. The Bears will have Eddie Royal and Marquess Wilson at the starting wideout positions but neither are intriguing fantasy options.

Injury Cutler and Jeffery return to practice for Bears
Both limited in practice Wednesday
By: Jake Gordon | Wed Sep 30, 6:16 pm

Chicgao Bears
The down-and-out Chicago Bears saw a pair of offensive starters return to the field on Wednesday. Quarterback Jay Cutler and wideout Alshon Jeffery both practiced on a limited basis after missing time with hamstring injuries, per Adam Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times. (

FFToday's Take: The Oakland Raiders are one of three teams yielding over 300 passing yards per game so getting either player back this week would be a huge lift for Chicago's offense. Jeffery seems a little closer to returning than Cutler but fantasy owners will want to keep a close eye on the practice reports this week.

Injury Alshon Jeffery hopeful for Week 4 return

Chicgao Bears
Bears WR Alshon Jeffery expects to return from his hamstring injury for Sunday’s game against Raiders, per source. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Jeffery tweaked his hamstring in practice leading up to Week 2 and has been sidelined since. The Bears have to hope that his return coincides with Jay Cutler's since Jimmy Clausen showed next to nothing against Seattle in Week 3. Jeffery has a good matchup next week versus the Raiders, but expectations need to be tempered if Cutler is not back by then.

Injury Cutler, Jeffery ruled out Sunday
Bears will be without two key offensive pieces against Seahawks
By: John Canario | Fri Sep 25, 6:45 pm

Chicgao Bears
The Chicago Bears are officially Jimmy Clausen's team this week. Coach John Fox announced that quarterback Jay Cutler is out Sunday with a hamstring injury, giving Clausen the start against the Seattle Seahawks. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported earlier this week Cutler would miss at least two weeks. In Week 2 versus the Arizona Cardinals, Clausen went 14-of-23 passing for 121 yards, one interception and a 56.6 passer rating in relief of Cutler. Clausen is 1-10 as an NFL starter. His only win came over John Skelton and the Cardinals in Week 15, 2010. Fox also announced receiver Alshon Jeffery would miss Sunday's contest as he continues to deal with a hamstring injury. Jeffery missed last week's tilt with the injury. (

FFToday's Take: Steer clear of Jimmy Clausen and Eddie Royal this week if you have any other options. Matt Forte and Martellus Bennett are the only Bears' players worth starting this week.

Chicgao Bears
Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (hamstring, calf) will be out today vs. AZCardinals, source said. The hope is a return next week to full health. (Ian Rapaport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Jeffery was already battling a calf injury before injuring his hamstring this week in practice. Martellus Bennett, Eddie Royal and Marquess Wilson will be the top receives today for Jay Cutler against the Cardinals defense.

Injury Alshon Jeffery listed as questionable
WR experiencing hamstring tightness
By: John Canario | Fri Sep 18, 4:00 pm

Chicgao Bears
Chicago Bears wide receiver Alshon Jeffery is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals, coach John Fox said Friday. Jeffery was slowed by an injured calf in the preseason, but made it back for the Bears’ season-opening loss to the Green Bay Packers. “He’ll be day-to-day, questionable for the game,” Fox said, according to the Chicago Sun Times. “He had some hamstring tightness after yesterday’s practice and we held him out today.” (SI)

FFToday's Take: Jeffery, playing with a sore calf in week one, still paced Bears' receivers with five receptions for 78 yards. The 25-year-old hasn't missed a game in either of the past two seasons, and has been known to play through injuries. Expect him to suit up against the Cardinals, who allowed 354 passing yards in week one.

Chicgao Bears
Bears WRs Alshon Jeffery and Eddie Royal, both listed as questionable for today's game vs. Packers, both expected to play. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The good news is the Bears play early so we'll know officially they are good to when the Inactives are released. Both receivers are fantasy relevant as the Bears face the Packers offense Week 1.

Injury Alshon Jeffery limited in practice Wednesday
Calf injury makes Bears' WR "day-to-day"
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Sep 9, 2:35 pm

Chicgao Bears
Chicago Bears wide receiver Alshon Jeffery practiced on Wednesday for the first time since he strained a calf muscle during a closed walk-through on Aug. 12. Jeffery, who was not in full pads, is expected to be classified as having limited participation on the official injury report. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: It's a step in the right direction but no guarantee that Jeffery will suit up against the Packers on Sunday. We'll have more confidence of Jeffery's status after practice on Friday. Eddie Royal (hip) was also limited today.

Injury Alshon Jeffery misses practice on Monday
Nursing calf injury

Chicgao Bears
Bears WRs Eddie Royal (hip) & Marquess Wilson (hamstring) participated in the part of practice open to media. Alshon Jeffery (calf) did not. (Rich Campbell on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: As part of John Fox's initiative to help fantasy owners as little as possible, the team is refusing to let Jeffery speak with reporters this week. The Bears' new top receiver hasn't practiced since early August as far as we know, which should probably outweigh the team's hinting that he will be ready for Week 1. Current owners need to start making alternate plans for this week and possibly beyond while late drafters probably need to bump him down their draft board a round or two.

Injury Jeffery's injury more serious than CHI admitting?
Bears' WR hasn't finished a practice since August 11
By: John Canario | Fri Sep 4, 4:40 pm

Chicgao Bears
The only thing that matters is if Alshon Jeffery is on the field when the Bears open the season Sept. 13 against the Packers. If you say that enough times, you might retain your sanity. But if you’re a Bears fan, you should be worried about the lack of information from the team about Jeffery’s injury. And maybe this would be no big deal in a vacuum. Another NFL team being paranoid about giving out information - so what? But the Bears hemmed and hawed and obfuscated about Kevin White’s shin injury in training camp before announcing that their 2015 first-round draft pick needed surgery and might miss the season. In Jeffery’s case, we have been reduced to scanning the sidelines during preseason games, hoping for a sighting. He didn’t make the trip to Cincinnati for the third preseason contest, even though the Bears had said he would. There he was before Thursday’s game against the Browns, catching passes but not running routes. What did it mean? Your guess is as good as anybody else’s. (Chicago Sun-Times)

FFToday's Take: Jeffery's "mild calf strain" could be just that. Or it could be something more serious. Either way, take his mysterious injury into consideration if you're eying him in the second or third round. If he does miss any time, Martellus Bennett becomes Jay Cutler's favorite target in the interim.

Injury Alshon Jeffrey "day-to-day" with calf strain
Bears WR status unclear for Saturday preseason game
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Aug 25, 9:30 am

Chicgao Bears
Chicago Bears wide receiver Alshon Jeffery has been dealing with a strained calf muscle for two weeks. On Monday, head coach John Fox was unable to provide a meaningful update on the fourth-year pass-catcher's injury status, adding that Jeffery is still listed as "day to day," according to reporters. (Fox Sports)

FFToday's Take: The Bears receiving corps is in rough shape. With both Jeffery and Kevin White out of the lineup, the Bears have experimented with their remaining depth at the wide receiver position, and former seventh-round selection Marquess Wilson is getting an extended look. But even Wilson missed practice on Monday with a hamstring injury. Right now, journeyman WR Eddie Royal is the only trustworthy receiver who's healthy, and could make an interesting early-season play in DFS and season-long leagues.

Injury Alshon Jeffery out of walking boot
Suffered calf injury last week, likely to miss second preseason game
By: Doug Orth | Mon Aug 17, 3:40 pm

Chicgao Bears
Alshon Jeffery (calf), who is still not practicing, is no longer wearing a walking boot or using crutches. (Zach Zaidman on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Jeffery's status for Week 1 doesn't appear to be in doubt and the Bears are likely just taking it slow with their top wideout. With Brandon Marshall now in New York, Chicago will rely heavily on Jeffery all over the field, making him a very good bet to finish among the top 10 fantasy receivers in all scoring formats.

Injury Bears' rookie wideout out with stress fracture
Kevin White to miss at least six games
By: Mike Krueger | Sat Aug 15, 1:00 pm

Chicgao Bears
As it turns out, Chicago Bears rookie Kevin White won’t be ready for the regular season as the team had previously hoped. In fact, White may not see the field in 2015 whatsoever. White has a stress fracture in his left shin and that a setback in White’s recuperation from that injury will now force the receiver into surgery. Whether White will rehabilitate from that surgery fast enough to play late in 2015 remains to be seen. (Chicago Tribune)

FFToday's Take: That thud you hear is the sound of White's fantasy value in redraft leagues. White will be placed on the PUP list once the season begins, meaning he will miss at least the first six games of the season. Alshon Jeffery (calf), Eddie Royal and TE Martellus Bennett will be the top three receiving options for Jay Cutler. WR Marquess Wilson will also be in the mix for targets.

Injury Jeffery misses pre-season opener with calf injury
Bears' WR wearing a walking boot and using crutches
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Aug 13, 11:00 pm

Chicgao Bears
Receiver Alshon Jeffery did not play in Thursday night's exhibition opener because he strained a calf muscle at practice in Bourbonnais earlier in the week. Coach John Fox said Jeffery is day to day, but he did not know when Jeffery will return to practice. Jeffery is wearing a walking boot and using crutches. (Chicago Tribune)

FFToday's Take: Not sure why a walking boot is needed for a calf muscle injury, but then again I'm not a doctor. John Fox likes to give as little information as possible when it comes to injuries and that could be the case here. Let's hope its just a strain and not something more serious. Eddie Royal and Marquess Wilson got the start in Jeffery's absence.
