Eagles re-sign DeSean Jackson-- Wed Mar 14 4:30 pm -- Five-year, $51 million
The Philadelphia Eagles have re-signed wide receiver DeSean Jackson to a five-year contract, the team announced Wednesday. A league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter the deal is worth $51-million.(ESPN)
FF Today's Take:The Eagles placed the franchise tag on Jackson earlier this month but have now locked up the brash receiver to a long-term deal. Jackson posted mediocre numbers last season (58 rec, 961 yds, 4 TDs) and will be a borderline fantasy WR2 with Jeremy Maclin a notch above.
Eagles franchise DeSean Jackson-- Thu Mar 1 8:00 pm -- "We want DeSean to be an Eagle for the long haul"
The Philadelphia Eagles placed the franchise tag on DeSean Jackson Thursday, assuring the two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver at least $9.4 million next season if he signs the tender. "We want DeSean to be an Eagle for the long haul and this is a step in the right direction to accomplish that," general manager Howie Roseman said. "We will continue our efforts on getting a long-term deal done with him."(ESPN)
FF Today's Take:Jackson would like a long-term deal but he may have to settle for the average of the top five salaries at his position ($9.4 million).
DeSean Jackson on the trade block?-- Sat Feb 25 3:00 pm -- Eagles listening to offers for the WR
The Eagles are open to listening to trade offers for wide receiver DeSean Jackson, according to league sources. Jackson is expected to be franchised. When the Eagles franchised him last season, he held out for a new contract in training camp. He was later deactivated for a game for disciplinary reasons and his production slipped. The 25-year-old receiver finished the season with 58 catches, 961 yards and four touchdowns. (ESPN)
FF Today's Take:The Eagles have had no issues parting ways with controversial receivers in the past - just ask Terrell Owens. With a slew of capable receivers in Jeremy Maclin, Jason Avant and Riley Cooper, Philly may decide that Jackson is more trouble than he's worth on the playing field.
