2016 Outlook
Depth Chart
A late-round darling heading into the 2015 season, Cardinals wide receiver John Brown did enough to satisfy his fantasy owners and give them even more hope for the future, especially with Larry Fitzgerald nearing the end of his career. Brown caught 65 receptions for 1,003 yards and seven scores, none of which led the team but it was enough to make him a solid WR2 in 12 team leagues.

The biggest issue with Brown is consistency. While he had a hand full of big games, he also finished with fewer than 50 yards receiving in six games. The potential is certainly here for Brown to be a big time breakout fantasy producer, but he plays in an extremely crowded offense with a plethora of talented players who all need to touch the ball. That means that there is likely to be a number of games where Brown fails to finish as even a WR3, but at least a few where he finishes as a high-end WR1.

Injury WR John Brown not on injury report
FS Mathieu expected to be "ready to roll"
By: Jake Gordon | Wed Sep 7, 7:09 pm

Arizona Cardinals
After missing the majority of August, Tyrann Mathieu and John Brown are noticeably absent from the Arizona Cardinals' Week 1 injury report. Returning from a December ACL tear, Mathieu sat out the entire preseason docket. Still, coach Bruce Arians has said he expects the 2015 All Pro to be "out there full speed, ready to roll" versus the New England Patriots on Sunday night. Arians doubled down over the weekend, adding that Mathieu will be available for "every single play" in the season opener. Brown's return is trickier, as he was still feeling the effects of a July 31 concussion nearly a month later. On a positive note, he started the preseason finale and should be ready to play -- even if it's only in a limited role. (NFL.com)

FFToday's Take: This is great news for anyone who took a chance on drafting John Brown over the weekend. Although he wasn't on the injury report Wednesday there are still questions regarding how much action he could see in Week 1 so fantasy owners should remain patient and keep him benched. Meanwhile, Tyrann Mathieu is a full go for IDP leaguers.

Injury John Brown still experiencing headaches
Had been setback-free for "one or two days" before latest episode

HC Bruce Arians: WR John Brown (concussion) still having headaches but making progress. (Kent Somers on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Brown reportedly suffered his concussion on July 31, but he was cleared to practice last week before experiencing headaches a few days later. From a fantasy perspective, it's probably about time to start moving him down drafts board and bumping up Jaron Brown, who has enjoyed the best camp of anyone according to QB Carson Palmer. If Brown eventually becomes symptom-free again, he has huge upside WR3 in this offense. Let's hope he has a chance to make that happen.

Injury Two Arizona receivers miss practice Wednesday
John Brown dealing with concussion symptoms
By: Jake Gordon | Wed Aug 24, 3:49 pm

Arizona Cardinals
Two of the Cardinals top two receivers, John Brown and Larry Fitzgerald, will miss Wednesday’s practice with injuries. Fitzgerald has an MCL sprain that’s “minor,” he said. He experienced soreness after Sunday’s practice and skipped Monday’s workout. Brown suffered a concussion nearly three weeks ago and has been limited in two practices this week. He had a headache on Wednesday, so he was held out of practice. (AZCentral.com)

FFToday's Take: John Brown's concussion is the more serious condition to monitor for fantasy owners. As long as he continues to have headaches, he will remain in the league's concussion protocol. It is too early to know if the Cardinals will have Brown back in time for Opening Day but it does put him at a higher risk to miss games during the year. Meanwhile, Larry Fitzgerald's MCL injury doesn't appear to be serious enough to jeopardize his status for Week 1.

FFToday's Take: Brown has missed over two weeks of camp which started to raise some eyebrows from fantasy owners. Brown remains a safe pick in the middle rounds of redraft leagues, assuming their are no setbacks in the next couple days.

Injury John Brown in concussion protocol
Hit his head on the turf during practice

Per Arizona Cardinals HC Bruce Arians, WR John Brown (is) going through concussion protocol (after hitting) his head (on) the ground (Sunday). (Mike Jurecki on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The Cardinals don't appear to be overly concerned, so owners should feel the same way. He could get held out of the preseason opener as a precaution, but he should be considered day-to-day for now. Brown should is one of the higher-upside WR3s in fantasy this season.
