Darnell Mooney is looking for a fresh start after a disastrous 2025 season with the Atlanta Falcons. Coming off a near-1,000-yard season in 2024, Mooney fell off the map last year, managing just 32 receptions for 443 yards and a single touchdown. To put things into perspective, Mooney played 15 games, yet was outscored by Mike Evans who played in just eight. The experiment in Atlanta is now over and the 28-year-old is looking to prove that his 2024 season wasn't an anomaly.
With Malik Nabers potentially sidelined, or at least physically limited to start the year, Mooney currently profiles as the biggest early-season beneficiary of what could be an interesting offense. Assuming veterans like Beckham and Smith-Schuster are treated purely as depth, Mooney will be competing with rookie Malachi Fields for Jaxson Dart's attention, and his ability to stretch the field aligns well with Dart's aggressive style.
As of right now, Mooney is just a late-round dart throw, but managers will need to keep an eye on Nabers' health. Mooney has a clear path to early-season targets if Nabers is out, making him a viable flex option in deeper leagues for September. Just be prepared to move on if the connection with Dart doesn't develop.
