Game Preview
Mike Krueger

Predicted Score: Bengals 27, Chiefs 24

Cincinnati: Coming off their bye week, the Bengals are trying to avoid a four-game losing streak. With injuries on both sides of the ball including running back Rudi Johnson, the Bengals should come out throwing against find some success against the Chiefs version of the Cover-2 Ty Law is old, slow, and no match for either Chad Johnson or T.J. Houshmandzadeh. Look for both receivers to have big days along with quarterback Carson Palmer (despite the Chiefs high defensive ranking against QBs). The Bengals are being tight-lipped about Rudi's status but expect Kenny Watson to start at running back.

  • Start: QB Carson Palmer, WR Chad Johnson, WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh, K Shayne Graham
  • Consider: TE Reggie Kelley
  • Sit: RB Rudi Johnson (inj), Bengals D/ST

Kansas City: Currently ranked 36th amongst running backs (7.5 Fpts/game), Larry Johnson has fantasy owners crying foul! However this could be the week, he gets on track. The Bengals boast one of the league's worst rush defenses and are decimated at the linebacker position. Lemar Marshall was placed on IR last week after tearing his Achilles' tendon, Caleb Miller (back), Ahmad Brooks (groin) and Rashad Jeanty (calf) are also among the walking wounded. If Johnson can't get it going at home, he and the Chiefs may begin their spiral down the drain. Damon Huard turned in a good practice session on Wednesday and is expected to start despite a bruised shoulder. Wide receiver Eddie Kennison re-aggravated his hamstring injury and will not play.

  • Start: RB Larry Johnson, TE Tony Gonzalez, WR Dwayne Bowe
  • Consider: QB Damon Huard, K Dave Rayner
  • Sit: WR Samie Parker, WR Jeff Webb, WR Eddie Kennision (inj)
