Game Preview
Mike Krueger

Predicted Score: Packers 21, Redskins 20

Washington: Quarterback Jason Campbell is coming off his best week throwing for 248 yards and 2 scores all without the services of Santana Moss. Moss is practicing this week and expected to return and Antwaan Randle El's hamstring injury shouldn't prevent him playing either. While Clinton Portis is receiving more carries than Betts at a 2-1 clip he looks like he could be a permanent fixture in the training room at any minute. Portis was on the sidelines during the first quarter limping around on his chronic knee. I don't like to project injuries but I can't imagine him making it through the season despite the best efforts of Joe Gibbs to limit his carries.

  • Start: RB Clinton Portis, TE Chris Cooley
  • Consider: WR Santana Moss (inj), WR Antwaan Randle El (inj), RB Ladell Betts, QB Jason Campbell, Redskins D/ST
  • Sit: N/A

Green Bay: The Packers suffered their first loss last week… at home… against division rival Chicago and will look to bounce back against a stingy Redskins team looking to start 4-1 for the first time since 1999. The Green Bay rushing attack showed some signs of life with DeShawyn Wynn and Vernand Morency combining for 121 yards but a costly Favre turnover sealed the Pack's fate. I don't expect gaudy numbers from Favre or the running game this week as the Redskins held Detroit's offense to just 142 yards a week ago. Look for rookie Brandon Jackson to make an appearance (Vernand Morency had a setback in practice this week) and a Packers defensive score to be the difference.

  • Start: QB Brett Favre, WR Donald Driver
  • Consider: RB DeShawn Wynn, WR Greg Jennings, WR James Jones TE Donald Lee, Packers D/ST, K Mason Crosby
  • Sit: RB Brandon Jackson, RB Vernand Morency (inj)
