2026 Outlook
Depth Chart
After a slow start, featuring a few brief flashes, Burden looked the part in the final quarter of the season when Rome Odunze missed time with a foot injury. The elite separation, and YAC ability popped off the screen in the pros just as it did when he was at Missouri. His 2025 finish, athletic pedigree, and unknown health of Odunze have led to the Burden hype train leaving the station.

With D.J. Moore gone, the targets in this passing game have been consolidated, and there's no doubt Burden should easily surpass the 47 receptions he saw in his rookie year. His speed and agility give him homerun potential on each reception, but he'll need that, as Chicago has superior options closer to the redzone.

Ultimately, Burden is certainly in a smash spot for 2026, but it's going to take Caleb Williams making a quantum leap in efficiency to get Burden into a WR1 spot. For now, especially in PPR leagues, add Burden as a high upside WR2 that has league winning potential if everything breaks his way.

Injury Luther Burden expected to miss about a month
Hope is he'll be ready for Week 1
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Aug 10, 12:10 am

Chicgao Bears
#Bears wide receiver Luther Burden III, who suffered a groin injury Saturday, is currently expected to miss about a month, sources tell @CBSSports. The hope is that he’ll be back and available for Chicago’s season opener vs. the #Panthers, per sources. (Matt Zenitz on X)

FFToday's Take: He's received a lot of hype from the fantasy community and even his head coach this pre-season. But, this injury will put Week 1 in question for Burden and should dampen his ADP (WR23) a bit. He missed two games last season due to a concussion and an ankle issue.

Chicgao Bears
#Bears WR Luther Burden III suffered a groin injury recently in practice and should miss a little bit of time, source says. One to keep an eye on. (Ian Rapoport on X)

FFToday's Take: Burden left practice on Saturday and it's still unclear how much time he will miss. He's expected to be a key cog for the Bears passing game this season and is currently hovering around WR23 in PPR ADP.
