Houston signed former Bills' RB Devin Singletary this off-season to back-up Dameon Pierce. Singletary held his own in Buffalo's pass-heavy offense, finishing as the 23rd best running back in fantasy football. However, Pierce is expected to be the main man behind/beside Stroud keeping Singletary in a pure backup role as opposed to a 1A, 1B situation.
With that being said, should Pierce be sidelined, Singletary has proven to be among the best backups in the league due to his starting experience at Buffalo. The soon-to-be 26-year-old rushed for 819 yards and five touchdowns, averaging a very solid 4.6 yards per carry in 16 games last season. Singletary got involved in quarterback Josh Allen's passing attack as well, collecting 38 receptions for 280 yards (7.4 yards per catch) and a touchdown.
Singletary won't be drafted high in fantasy football leagues, but he's definitely a good handcuff option in 2023. Since Pierce isn't much of a receiver, Singletary may get snaps on the field during obvious passing situations.

Dameon Pierce expected to play in Week 12 Ankle injury By: Mike Krueger | Sun Nov 26, 7:00 am

| | Texans’ RB Dameon Pierce, listed as questionable for Sunday due to an ankle injury, is expected to play vs. the Jaguars, per source. (Adam Schefter on X)
FFToday's Take: Pierce has missed the last two games due to an ankle injury which has allowed Devin Singletary to take control of the backfield in Houston. The coaching staff has noted that they intend to use both backs but I'd expect Singletary to get the start and play in a lead back role against the Jaguars.

| Dameon Pierce not expected to play Week 11 Nico Collins good to go By: Mike Krueger | Fri Nov 17, 7:00 am

| | Running back Dameon Pierce, a Pro Bowl alternate as a rookie last season, isn’t practicing due to an ankle injury that has kept him out the past two games. He is not expected to play Sunday, per a league source.
When Pierce returns, he will split time with Devin Singletary, per offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik.
Wide receiver Nico Collins practiced for the second consecutive game. He is set to go for Sunday’s game after missing the Bengals game with a strained calf.
Collins declared that he feels good and he will play Sunday. (Aaron Wilson)
FFToday's Take: Pierce has missed the last two games with an ankle injury. He did return to practice Friday but it appears Singletary will get the backfield mostly to himself this week with a little Mike Boone sprinkled in. This puts Singletary on the RB2 radar against the Cardinals with RB1 upside if he finds the endzone.

| Nico Collins, Dameon Pierce unlikely to play Week 10 Banged up Texans offense By: Mike Krueger | Fri Nov 10, 12:51 pm

| | On #Texans wide receiver Nico Collins' strained calf. He got hurt against #Buccaneers and it became apparent during warmups Wednesday that he couldn't go, hence the limited designation on injury report, but didn't have any practice time. Now, out Thursday and again today @KPRC2 (Aaron Wilson on X)
FFToday's Take: The Texans will be without two of their starting offensive skill players against the Bengals. Both Collins and Pierce missed practice this week. Expect Devin Singletary to be the starting running back and Tank Dell, Robert Woods and Noah Brown to be the top three receivers. Singletary has some Flex appeal while Dell has some WR2 upside.

| Dameon Pierce misses practice on Wednesday Ankle injury By: Mike Krueger | Wed Nov 1, 5:44 pm

| | #Texans Dameon Pierce (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday. Undergoing treatment today for injured ankle that sidelined him during practice, #Texans running back Dameon Pierce not ruled out for Sunday's game, per league source, as it's being weighed whether missing a week would allow him to return to full capabilities. @KPRC2 (Aaron Wilson on X)
FFToday's Take: We'll need to keep an eye on this situation throughout the week as Devin Singletary could get a volume bump against the Bucs if Pierce is out in Week 9. Two back have been splitting work the last few weeks. Mike Boone is next up on the depth chart.
