2022 Outlook
Depth Chart
After closing 2020 being targeted 55 times in his final five games, Waller opened last season with a 10-catch, 105-yard, 1-TD showing on Monday Night Football during which he was targeted 19 times. For whatever reason, that proved to be the high point of his season; he'd see double-digit looks just one more time (Nov. 7) and top 100 yards once (Nov. 21). A knee injury suffered Thanksgiving Day all but ended his season -- he returned for the finale -- and he finished with a disappointing 55-665-2 line. For comparison, he posted 43-654-4 in that five-game stretch to finish the previous year.

There were reports that the Packers tried to acquire Waller as part of the Adams deal, but the veteran remains in Vegas. With Adams on the outside and Renfrow operating out of the slot there should be room for Waller to make things happen. He doesn't have the track record to be selected ahead of names like Travis Kelce or Mark Andrews, but you'd be hard pressed to find anyone with a higher ceiling at the position for 2022 than Waller. If you're in a gambling mood you could make him the first TE off the draft board, but around TE5 is the safer call.

Injury Raiders activate Darren Waller, Hunter Renfrow off IR
Long layoffs for both
By: Mike Krueger | Sat Dec 17, 5:06 pm

Las Vegas Raiders
#Raiders activate TE Darren Waller, WR Hunter Renfrow, in time to face #Patriots. (Paul Gutierrez on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Both Waller and Renfrow will be eligible to play this week against the Patiots. How much they play will be the question. Waller hasn't played since Week 4 with a hamstring injury and Renfrow hasn't played since Week 9 with an oblique injury. Hopefully, we'll get some indication of their usage by tomorrow. Both will be risky fantasy plays in Week 15.

Injury Darren Waller, Hunter Renfrow ready to return?
Both coming off IR this week

FFToday's Take: Waller has been dealing with a hamstring issue the majority of the season while Renfrow has been sidelined with an oblique injury. We'll see how much practice time they get this week. Waller said last week that he anticipates playing in Week 15.

Injury Darren Waller ready to return in Week 15?
Sidelined by hamstring injury since Week 5
By: Doug Orth | Tue Dec 6, 8:00 pm

Las Vegas Raiders
There’s been much speculation about Darren Waller’s status in recent weeks. The Raiders haven’t said much and there’s even been talk that he could be out of the season. However, that is not the case. In an interview with Heavy Sports, Waller revealed that he’s recovered from his hamstring injury and is planning to be ready to play as soon as he’s eligible to. “Yeah, I plan on playing this season,” Waller said when asked if he was ready to return. “If they tell me I’m playing this Thursday coming up, then I’m playing this Thursday coming up, so I have my first game back active from IR so I plan on playing it up and finishing strong.” (Heavy.com - Austin Boyd)

FFToday's Take: Waller is eligible to come off IR in time to play this Thursday against the Rams, but it does not sound as though HC Josh McDaniels has any interest in playing Waller without a full week of practice following such a long layoff. It has been a frustrating season for Waller and his fantasy managers, but the few managers who have survived this long without his services could be getting a big boost at a position that has been awful for fantasy purposes this season.

Injury Darren Waller headed to IR, hamstring injury
Eligible to play in Week 14
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Nov 10, 1:04 pm

Las Vegas Raiders
#raiders are placing Darren Waller on IR per source. The hamstring is going to need some time to get fully healthy. The 4 weeks hopefully will do that. (James Palmer on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Waller last played in Week 5 and has scored just one touchdown on the season. He'll be eligible to play in Week 14 against the Rams. Until then Foster Moreau will takeover the starting tight end duties for the Raiders. He played at least 96% of the snaps the last three games while Waller has been out making him a viable weekly tight end play.

Injury Darren Waller unlikely to play in Week 9
limited in practice all week
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Nov 6, 7:10 am

Las Vegas Raiders
Raiders’ TE Darren Waller, listed as questionable for Sunday due to a hamstring injury, still is not fully healthy and is unlikely to play vs. the Jaguars, per source. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: This is now the second-straight week that Waller has been limited during practice but failed to play in the game with his hamstring injury. In his place, Foster Moreau played 100% of the snaps last week against the Saints. That kind of usage makes Moreau a very viable streamer in every league.

Injury Darren Waller listed as Questionable
Hamstring injury
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Nov 4, 2:33 pm

Las Vegas Raiders
#Raiders TE Darren Waller (hamstring) and LB Divine Deablo (back, wrist) are questionable for Sunday. McDaniels on Waller: "He's working extremely hard to try to get back as soon as he can. I know that, and nobody wants to play quicker than Darren does." (Vic Tafur on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Just like last week, Waller was limited in practice all week and then slapped with Questionable tag. It sounds like another gametime decision which we should get word on late Saturday night, early Sunday morning. Foster Moreau would be a viable streamer if Waller sits.
