Carson Wentz done for the year
Set to undergo left shoulder surgery

Vikings QB Carson Wentz is undergoing season-ending surgery on his left shoulder. He will be placed on IR. Wentz played multiple games with the injury. J.J. McCarthy is in line to start for Minnesota in Week 9 against Detroit. (The Athletic - Dianna Russini)

FFToday's Take: It is unclear if this is a good thing or not for the Vikings' pass-catchers, most notably Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. McCarthy played only about one quarter of good football through two games, although this is essentially his rookie season after he missed all of last year. He won't catch mmuch of a break from the opponent, as the Lions rank inside the top five in sacks (23) despite having only played seven games.
