With the AFC North now the retirement home for 40-year-old QBs,
Flacco has more than earned the right to be a fantasy starter. He’s
averaged over 28 FPts/G since joining the Bengals, and just prior
to the bye torched the Bears defense for 470 yards and four touchdowns.
With Joe Burrow set to return in the next few weeks, find a place
for Flacco in your lineup as he faces off against the other geriatric
from Pittsburgh.
All age-related jokes aside, it’s pretty amazing that some
of the old greybeards have still had some shining fantasy moments.
Rodgers has hit the skids the last two weeks, struggling in games
against the Colts and Chargers. The Bengals are a perfect “get
right” spot, as they sport a historically bad defense. In
their last meeting Rodgers tossed four touchdowns and makes for
a strong start if you are hurting at the position.
I was really hoping to make this a trifecta of old guys, but
the closest I could get was Matt Stafford, and he’s an easy
start. So instead, we pivot to Tua, who just a few weeks ago was
nearly put out to pasture. Instead, the Phins have rebounded to
win two out of three, and head to Spain to battle the white flag
waving Commanders. Tua isn’t an exciting start, but with
byes and injuries mounting, it’s excusable to start him
this week. Washington is injury riddled on both sides of the ball,
and have yielded the 4th most fantasy points to the position.
With several underwhelming games, and now injuries to his receivers
and offensive line, Love is far from a set and forget fantasy
starter. The Packer offense isn’t generating splash plays,
and they have failed to reach 17 points in two straight games.
Look for the Giant defense to be fired up at home with that “new
coach” boost. As long as the Giants avoid taking a big lead
into the 4th quarter, Love and this passing game could struggle
again.
Goff and the Lions played lights out last week scoring 44 points
and piling up over 500 total yards, but that was against the rotting
corpse of the Commanders. On tap is a trip to Philly, who is fresh
off manhandling the Packers on Monday night. Goff struggles with
a messy pocket and the matchup with Philly's elite interior defensive
line doesn’t line up well for success. This whole Lion offense
could be in for a down week.
Labeled “Houdini” by his head coach, Williams pulled
another 4th quarter stunt in Week 10 against the Giants. The Bears
have been playing on the edge of disaster for most of the season
as they’ve racked up close wins against a host of bad defenses.
Williams has had a relatively high floor this year because of
his legs, but Minnesota is an injured, cornered animal, playing
for their season. I think the rug finally gets pulled on Williams
and the Bears.
