The Shot Caller's Report - Wk 15 Wide Receivers

Brandon Aiyuk

Grab a Helmet

Brandon Aiyuk @ DAL

It’s gotten so bad in San Fran that I think the injuries themselves are getting injured! With Deebo Samuel on the shelf off and on the last few weeks, Aiyuk has vaulted into the WR1 conversation, totaling a silly 56 targets over the last 5 games to go with 495 yards and 3 touchdowns. In the games Samuel has missed, Aiyuk has been a scoring dynamo and must start fantasy player. That’s the case this week, and to top it off, the Niners face a Dallas defense that has a secondary in disarray.

Allen Robinson @ MIN

“Here’s to you Mr. Robinson!” Suffering from a case of the grumpies most of the year catching passing from risk averse Nick Foles, Robinson has seen a mighty resurgence since the return of Mitch Trubisky three weeks ago. Over that span Robinson has been a top-5 receiver, catching at least 6 passes and going over 70 yards or a score during that span. Trubisky, to his credit, is more willing to push the ball downfield to Robinson in tight spaces, and let him make plays. As the alpha dog in this passing game, and in a dreamy matchup with the undermanned Viking secondary, Robinson has some blow-up potential this week.

T.Y. Hilton vs HOU

On most league’s waiver wires just a few short weeks ago, Hilton has flashed vintage early career production the past couple of games (277 yards, 4 touchdowns) . In fact, over the last three weeks, Hilton trails only Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill in standard fantasy receiver scoring. When you can get WR1 production from your likely WR3 spot, you are going to win some titles. T.Y. Hilton, a potential league winner? So 2020 cliche’!

Grab some Pine

Terry McLaurin vs SEA

The only thing scary about Terry the last few weeks have been his receiving numbers. Defensive attention, combined with Alex Smith’s conservative nature, have put a severe damper on what was a promising season. Hauling in only 40% of his 10 targets over the last few weeks has been crushing, and while the matchup with the Seattle secondary might have looked juicy 6 weeks ago, the Seahawks haven’t given up a touchdown to a receiver since Week 9. Washington is going to have to manufacture touches for their most explosive threat but I’m certainly not confident this week. You certainly can’t bench him, but temper expectations.

Jarvis Landry @ NYG

Quietly one of the best secondaries in football, the G-men are a scrappy, well-coached bunch of defenders. Injuries and a “run first” mentality have capped Landry’s fantasy production since OBJ went down. Rather than an alpha, Landry is part of a receiving committee, and that alone limits his upside. I think New York works to limit Landry’s impact as a chain mover by giving him some extra attention, as they have the talent to man-up the other Cleveland receivers.

Robby Anderson @ GB

Anderson has easily been one of the best values in all of fantasy football this season. Despite only scoring twice, he’s set career highs in receptions and yardage, and has been pretty consistent to boot. But with the return of D.J. Moore likely this week, there are again three mouths to feed in this passing game against a Green Bay defense that’s held up against receivers pretty well this season. Playing in Lambeau in December is enough to squash some teams, and I think a convergence of factors leads to a down week for Anderson.
