In the quarterback landscape for the New England Patriots, the situation remains uncertain with Jacoby Brissett potentially starting the season. However, amidst this uncertainty, rookie Drake Maye emerges as a compelling figure for fantasy managers to monitor closely. Known for his robust stature and impressive college statistics, Maye demonstrated a knack for minimizing turnovers and delivering under pressure throughout his collegiate career. Despite a puzzling downturn towards the end of his final season, the consensus points to Maye eventually blossoming into a starting-caliber NFL quarterback. His profile suggests potential for elite production, although immediate fantasy relevance may be limited by New England's offensive challenges and his rookie status. Nevertheless, in Superflex and two-quarterback formats, Maye presents an intriguing late-round option with significant upside. Drawing comparisons to Josh Allen in terms of both passing and rushing abilities, Maye could provide substantial fantasy returns once he secures playing time in the Patriots' lineup.

Drake Maye expected to start in Week 6 Expected to supplant Jacoby Brissett By: Doug Orth | Tue Oct 8, 6:20 pm
| | The future is now in New England: Sources say the #Patriots are planning to start Drake Maye against the #Texans, the first start for the No. 3 overall pick.
Jacoby Brissett, who started the first five games, heads to the bench. (NFL Network - Ian Rapoport)
FFToday's Take: Maye was almost certainly going to start some games as a rookie, but the timing of the announcement is odd, to say the least. It was thought one of the major reasons why Maye was not named the starter to begin the season was that the organization was trying to do right by him and not set him up for failure behind a bad offensive line. Giving him his first NFL start against a Texans' defense that has been very good at rushing the passer this season is a curious decision at best. Fantasy managers would do well to continue streaming their DST units against New England.
| Patriots name Jacoby Brissett starter for Week 1 Drake Maye waiting in the wings By: Mike Krueger | Thu Aug 29, 8:10 am
| | Now official: #Patriots coach Jerod Mayo informed players in a team meeting that Jacoby Brissett is the starting QB, while Drake Maye will be his backup.
Brissett told @nflnetwork in August, “I'm the perfect person to mentor the guys, but I'm also the perfect person to start.” (Ian Rapoport on X)
FFToday's Take: Mayo had hinted much of the off-season that Brissett was going to be the starter and here we are, despite the head coach admitting that Maye had performed better than Brissett at times in games. Given the lack of talent at the skill positions in New England, it's hard to get excited about either quarterback in fantasy leagues. They an remain on your waiver wire for now.
