Keaton Mitchell takes next step in backfield takeover
Posted 89 total yards on 11 touches in Week 12
By: Doug Orth | Mon Nov 27, 7:20 pm

Baltimore Ravens
Keaton Mitchell took the lead role in the Ravens backfield (46% of the snaps) Sunday. The rookie RB has some serious juice and the Ravens are ready to unleash him down the stretch run. (Ravens.com - Ryan Mink)

FFToday's Take: Offensive coordinator Todd Monken told reporters on Monday that the team is still getting comfortable with Mitchell in different personnel groupings. With that said, Mitchell drew the start in Week 12 against the Chargers and appeared very comfortable. The best news may be that Mink sounds convinced the team is ready to put more on his plate after the Week 13 bye. While Baltimore is unlikely ever to feature the 190-pounder, it sounds as though fantasy managers will be able to count on him as a weekly RB2 option starting in Week 14.

Keaton Mitchell likely to see more work
Produced 66 yards and a touchdown on four touches in Week 10
By: Doug Orth | Mon Nov 13, 8:10 pm

Baltimore Ravens
John Harbaugh on Keaton Mitchell only getting 4 snaps and 1 touch in the second half says “Looking back on it would we have wanted him out there more? Yea.” Added that it had to do with being a young guy and working him in but he’ll be more involved this week. (Baltimore Sun - Brian Wacker)

FFToday's Take: The good news is that Mitchell saw action on the first drive (which he capped with a 39-yard TD run) and again on the team's second possession (32-yard catch). The bad news is that he barely saw any action after that. While there is some merit to earning the trust of the coaching staff, coaches often don't shy away from players - regardless of how much they have worked with the team - if they continue to make big plays. Expect a bit of an overcorrection in Week 11 against a Cincinnati defense that just gave up 150 rushing yards to Devin Singletary. Mitchell should be, at worst, a great flex option on Thursday Night Football.

Baltimore hints at three-headed RBBC moving forward
HC John Harbaugh: "I'm sure there will be a rotation."
By: Doug Orth | Mon Nov 6, 4:10 pm

Baltimore Ravens
#Ravens coach John Harbaugh on whether RB Keaton Mitchell will get worked into the offense more: "I'm sure there'll be a rotation. Sometimes it's by certain scheme, sometimes it's by who's hot. Sometimes it's by who's tired with running backs. It just kind of depends." (ESPN - Jamison Hensley)

FFToday's Take: NFL coaches really are the masters of saying something but not saying anything. Mitchell was involved surprisingly early in the Week 9 beatdown of the Seahawks and flashed an impressive combination of speed and power. Gus Edwards is likely in no danger of losing his early-down role anytime soon, but Mitchell arguably showed more big-play ability on Sunday than Justice Hill has all season. Mitchell may not be on the flex radar yet, but he will likely be this week's top waiver-wire add (and for good reason). He may not possess the same kind of upside Devon Achane did before his injury, but he could emerge as a weekly flex option soon enough.
