2025 Outlook
Depth Chart
After a major breakout in his second season, Warren fell off significantly last year. In addition to missing two games, his touch total dipped from 210 to 158, and his yards-per-carry average went from 5.3 to 4.3. Through his time in Pittsburgh, he was never able to unseat Najee Harris in any significant way, and despite being re-signed by the Steelers this offseason, the drafting of Kaleb Williams in the 3rd round signifies that Warren will once again be relegated to committee work. If he can return to being healthy and explosive like he was in 2023, and the efficiency numbers return, then there is a direct path to fantasy relevance.

Remember though, that this offense is still designed by Arthur Smith, and while he wants to make the run game the focal point, he's willing to use three, and sometimes even four running backs to do it. Besides the drafting of Johnson, former Eagle Kenneth Gainwell was signed in the offseason, and he's a Warren clone. Arthur Smith favorite Cordarrelle Patterson still remains on the roster as well, meaning that this backfield could potentially be a mess to untangle. Despite his talent, and flashes of electricity, there just won't be the volume to support Warren as anything more than a RB3.

Mike Tomlin steps down as head coach
Pittsburgh seeking only fourth head coach since 1969
By: Doug Orth | Tue Jan 13, 11:50 pm

Pittburgh Steelers
Breaking: After a historic 19-season run in Pittsburgh, Mike Tomlin just informed his team that he is stepping down as the Steelers head coach, sources tell @JFowlerESPN and me. The Steelers now will be looking for only their fourth head coach since 1969. (ESPN - Adam Schefter)

FFToday's Take: One of the few common threads between Pittsburgh's last three head coaches (Chuck Noll, Bill Cowher and Tomlin) is that each was hired in their 30s and cut his teeth on the defensive side of the ball. Considering how well that prototype has worked for them in their history, it would be a surprise if the Steelers departed from it. Pittsburgh desperately needs to find its next Terry Bradshaw or Ben Roethlisberger if it hopes to pick up where it is leaving off with Tomlin. Until then, it seems unlikely players such as DK Metcalf and Jaylen Warren will be able to reach their fantasy ceiling.

Injury Jaylen Warren active for MNF
RB was late addition to Week 15 injury report
By: Doug Orth | Mon Dec 15, 7:00 pm

Pittburgh Steelers
The Steelers have added RB Jaylen Warren to the injury report as questionable (illness) for tonight’s game with Miami. (NFL Network - Tom Pelissero)

FFToday's Take: This is the last thing Warren's fantasy managers - at least those needing him to get them over the top in their fantasy matchups - want to hear. The good news for them is that Warren avoided the inactive list, but it remains to be seen how involved he will be considering he was added to the injury report just hours before the start of the team's Monday game versus the Dolphins, which is expected to be played in sub-20 degree weather. It likely means the Steelers will rely more heavily on Kenneth Gainwell.

Jaylen Warren confident he will be ready for Week 12
Suffered ankle injury in Week 11 win over Bengals
By: Doug Orth | Mon Nov 17, 4:30 pm

Pittburgh Steelers
Jaylen Warren on his ankle injury: “I could have (returned), but it was part of being smart. We got a lot of games ahead of us, so they’re looking out for me.” (PennLive - Nick Farabaugh)

FFToday's Take: Considering how Warren was walking on the sideline after suffering his injury in the second half of the team's Week 11 game, this sounds like an athlete trying to will himself to heal quickly. Kenneth Gainwell benefited greatly from Mason Rudolph throwing him the ball from that point on, as the former finished with seven catches for 81 yards and two touchdowns. While fantasy managers should hold out hope for Warren in Week 12, Gainwell appears to be the favorite to get the nod against the Bears.

Injury Aaron Rodgers leaves early with wrist injury
More testing to occur Monday
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Nov 16, 5:15 pm

Pittburgh Steelers
The initial concern is that Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has "a slight break" in his left, non-throwing wrist, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. The quarterback will undergo further testing Monday to determine the full extent of the injury and how long he'll be sidelined, league sources told Schefter. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Rodgers left in the 2nd quarter of Week 11's game against the Bengals, allowing Mason Rudolph to finish the game. We should know more early in the week how long Rodgers will be out. The Steelers also lost Jaylen Warren to an ankle injury in the third quarter. Kenneth Gainwell finished this game with a 9-24-0, 7-81-2 line.
