A bust in New England, Thornton unexpectedly put up seven receptions, 130 yards, and a pair of TDs in Weeks 2 and 3 last year with both Rice (suspension) and Worthy (shoulder) unavailable. He had a 90-yard effort in Week 5 but vanished after that, topping 50 yards just once the rest of the year. Thornton showed enough as a deep threat to have the inside track on the No. 3 job in Kansas City, with names like Jalen Royals, Nikko Remigio, and Cyrus Allen behind him on the current depth chart.
This is another of those situations where training camp will sort out the spots behind Rice and Worthy, and even if Thornton secures it, there's no obvious fantasy value. At best, you can consider him a watch-list candidate based on the recent struggles of Worthy, and particularly Rice, to stay on the field.
