2021 Outlook

A season-ending broken leg against the Giants in Week 5 cut short what could have been a monster fantasy season for Dak Prescott. Before his gruesome leg injury, Dak was on pace to be the number one fantasy quarterback, with three consecutive games of over 400 passing yards as the Dallas defense continued to for Prescott and the offense to throw heavily to stay in games.

In addition to the season-ending injury to Dak, the Cowboys lost three starting pro-bowl offensive linemen, leaving the remaining skill position players to suffer with a backup quarterback in Andy Dalton and a rag-tag group of backup linemen in what proved to be a massively disappointing first year under head coach Mike McCarthy.

Dak is back, and it appears that Zack Martin, Tyron Smith, and La'el Collins are back and will be ready for the season opener. With an elite offensive line and a deep collection of skill potion players, Dak is primed to build off 2020 and ascend to elite status among fantasy quarterbacks.

The one negative to keep in mind is the improved defensive moves made by Jerry Jones, and the front office should limit the need for Dak to pass and the ridiculous levels we saw in 2020. This does not mean that Dak cannot be a top-5 QB, but it does mean a likely reduction in pass attempts.

News From The Past 90 Days
Amari Cooper (COVID) now non-committal for Week 13
Veteran WR still symptomatic, up in the air for matchup with Saints
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Nov 30, 11:45 am

Dallas Cowboys
Michael Gehlken (@GehlkenNFL) on Twitter: "Cowboys WR Amari Cooper (COVID-19) is back in building but "still not feeling the best," coach Mike McCarthy said. Still has a cough. "To be determined" whether he'll practice today. "My gut would be if he doesn't practice tomorrow, I don't see him going to the game." (Twitter)

FFToday's Take: That was a quick change of direction. Earlier in the morning, Jerry Jones indicated Cooper should play, but the news that he's still symptomatic puts him in doubt of playing. Michael Gallup would get a bump, and Dak Prescott would take a hit if Cooper can't play.

Injury CeeDee Lamb out for Week 12 with concussion
Couldn't clear protocol in time
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Nov 25, 11:20 am

Dallas Cowboys
#Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb (concussion) is out today against the #Raiders, sources tell me and @SlaterNFL. Amari Cooper also out with COVID, leaving Dak Prescott without his top two receivers. (Tom Pelissero on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: On the short week, it was going to be tough for Lamb to clear the concussion protocol. In the end, he will miss Week 12 which leaves Dallas thin at receiver. Expect Michael Gallup, Cedrick Wilson and Noah Brown to be the top wideouts. TE Dalton Schultz should be a primary option for Dak against the Raiders.

Injury Dak Prescott hints at Week 9 return
Upgraded to full practice Thursday
By: Doug Orth | Thu Nov 4, 11:50 pm

Dallas Cowboys
Safe to say Cowboys QB Dak Prescott is playing vs. Broncos? “Safe to say,” he confirms to us. (USA TODAY - Jori Epstein)

FFToday's Take: The Cowboys smartly did not push Prescott last week and appear to be out of the woods in regards to his calf injury. Dallas' Week 9 opponent (Denver) has been stingy against quarterbacks for the most part this season, not allowing more than two total touchdowns to any signal-caller. However, Lamar Jackson is the only high-profile starter the Broncos have faced. Furthermore, Denver traded its best pass-rusher (Von Miller) earlier this week. Do not hesitate to put Prescott back in your lineup if he is absent from Friday's injury report.
