2019 Outlook
Depth Chart
Diggs has proven to be everything you want in a WR2. He's scores touchdowns (17 over the past two seasons), flirts with WR1 weeks (four 100-yard games and four double digit reception games) and gets enough targets to avoid some truly horrific games.

After a solid 2017, Diggs had a career year in 2018, making sweet music with his new quarterback Kirk Cousins. Diggs reached 100 receptions and 1,000 yards for the first time in his career, and the 9 touchdowns also marked a career high. While I was a little surprised with the drop in yards-per-reception average (way too many lost yards on ill-executed bubble screens) Diggs was a difference maker last season. So how will he fare in what looks to be a less pass-centric offense? I see a bigger drop-off for Diggs than I do for Thielen. It's going to be near impossible to repeat the 149 targets he received last year (this was 37 more than his previous career high) with his role on the offense unchanged. And although he usually is able to play through them, Diggs gets nicked up a bit, missing 9 games over his 4-year career.

Even with a slight regression, I'd still be happy to take Diggs as a reliable WR2 that has a chance to be a week winner a few times throughout the year.

Injury Adam Thielen ruled out for Week 11
Hamstring injury
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Nov 15, 1:38 pm

Minnesota Vikings
Vikings ruled out WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) for Week 11 against the Broncos. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: This makes sense as the Vikings have a bye in Week 12 which should allow him enough time to get ready for Week 13. With Thielen out, Stefon Diggs should be the focal point of the passing game but he has a rough matchup against Broncos cornerback Chris Harris. Diggs is more of a WR2 than WR1 in Week 11.

Injury Adam Thielen misses practice Thursday
Hamstring injury
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Nov 14, 12:24 pm

Minnesota Vikings
No Linval Joseph (knee), Adam Thielen (hamstring) or Josh Kline (concussion) at #Vikings practice today. DT Shamar Stephen returned. (Andrew Krammer on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: With the Vikings having a bye in Week 12 it's starting to feel like we may not see Thielen on the field until Week 13 against the Seahawks. If Thielen sits, Stefon Diggs is the only piece of the Vikings receiving corps that fantasy owners should feel comfortable with.

Injury Adam Thielen unlikely to play Week 10
Hamstring injury
By: Mike Krueger | Tue Nov 5, 2:22 pm

Minnesota Vikings
#Vikings WR Adam Thielen’s strained hamstring is no worse after his brief appearance in KC, I'm told, but he’s unlikely to play Sunday against the #Cowboys. Could feel it pulling and need to calm it down. Note: Bye is 2 weeks away and team errs on the conservative side. (Tom Pelissero on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Fantasy owners should plan to be without Thielen this week and possible more given the Vikings have a bye in Week 12. Stefon Diggs will continue to operate as the team's top wideout for the next couple weeks.

Injury Adam Thielen aggravates hamstring injury
Played only seven snaps in Week 9
By: Doug Orth | Mon Nov 4, 4:50 pm

Minnesota Vikings
Vikings coach Mike Zimmer wouldn't speculate (Nov. 4) on when Adam Thielen will return from hamstring injury. "Whenever the doctor says he's ready to play, he's ready." (Chris Tomasson on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Thanks, coach. In all seriousness, this is another case in which fantasy owners appeared to get deceived, as we were generally led to believe Thielen was close to being ready to play on a short week in Week 8 and the team was just being cautious with him leading up to Week 9. At this point, owners probably should wait for him to make it through an entire game before inserting him back into lineups. Stefon Diggs will continue to operate as the clear WR1 in his absence.

Injury Adam Thielen out for Thursday Night Football
Hamstring injury
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Oct 23, 2:13 pm

Minnesota Vikings
#Vikings are listing WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) as out for tomorrow night's game. (Adam Caplan on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The Vikings will rest their No.1 receiver on a short week leaving Stefon Diggs and Olabisi Johnson as the top wideouts with Laquon Treadwell expected to see more work. The Vikings may also use more two-tight end sets with Kyle Rudolph and rookie Irv Smith.

Injury Adam Thielen unlikely to play Thursday
Hamstring injury
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Oct 21, 12:55 pm

Minnesota Vikings
An MRI showed #Vikings WR Adam Thielen's pulled hamstring isn't a serious injury, sources say. Unlikely to play Thursday against the #Redskins, but optimism he won't miss much time. (Tom Pelissero on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Olabisi Johnson saw 8 targets after Thielen left so he's worth considering if your in a pinch at wide receiver in Week 8. Stefon Diggs will likely see a bump in targets and be a borderline WR1 against the Redskins.

Stefon Diggs expected to be active
Off-field shenanigans
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Oct 6, 9:00 am

Minnesota Vikings
Vikings’ WR Stefon Diggs is expected to be active today vs the NY Giants, per sources. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Diggs reportedly requested a trade after being unhappy with his usage this season. He missed team meetings and was fined by the team. The Vikings passing game has a great matchup against the Giants this week but their low-volume passing attack makes Thielen and Diggs risky plays in Week 5.

Stefon Diggs returns to team on Thursday
Frustrated WR skipped Wednesday because he was "sick"
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Oct 3, 1:15 pm

Minnesota Vikings
After sitting out Wednesday's practice for what the Vikings called "non-injury related" reasons, Stefon Diggs returned to the team's facility on Thursday and acknowledged his frustration with the state of the offense through four games. (Minneapolis Star Tribune)

FFToday's Take: The latest NFL drama queen says he's not a me-first guy and always puts the team before himself. That doesn't appear to be the case given his recent actions. Diggs also missed Monday's team meeting after losing to the Bears in Week 4. The Vikings have a juicy matchup against the Giants in Week 5. We'll have to wait to find out what kind of role Diggs will have on Sunday.

Injury Stefon Diggs expected to play
Questionable with hamstring injury
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Sep 8, 7:00 am

Minnesota Vikings
Despite nursing a strained hamstring that has him listed as questionable for Sunday, Vikings WR Stefon Diggs is expected to play against the Falcons, per source. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Diggs got in limited practices Thursday and Friday. He's had history of performing poorly when playing with injury so fantasy owners need to cautious with him today against the Falcons.

Injury Stefon Diggs questionable for Week 1
Hamstring injury
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Sep 6, 4:35 pm

Minnesota Vikings
All 53 #Vikings suited up for final open practice ahead of Sunday’s season opener. - Stefon Diggs (hamstring) practicing again. Limited yesterday. - Hughes (knee) practicing, and returning punts at start of session. Been limited. - Beebe, Abdullah and Johnson also fielding punts. (Andrew Krammer on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Diggs missed practice Wednesday and was limited on Thursday. Head coach Mike Zimmer gave did not confirm Diggs would play on Sunday only to say "We'll see". Diggs' owners should have plan B in place but Minnesota does play an early game so we'll know 90 minutes before kickoff if he's inactive.
