COMMENTS
Tom Brady, NE: Brady has been nursing a foot injury during camp and is not expected to play in New England's final preseason game. He continues to say he'll be ready come September 7th when the Patriots host the Chiefs.

Peyton Manning, IND: Manning had an infected bursa sac removed from his left knee July 14th. Reports are that his rehab is on schedule but there are no guarantees he will be ready for Week 1. "We won't put him out there if he's not ready to go, physically or mentally," Dungy said. "It's a long season. He thinks he's going to be ready. We feel like he will. But if he's not, we'll go to Plan B."

Jay Cutler, DEN: Cutler has been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes which caused him to lose 35 lbs. from Nov - April but has since learned how to control his illness and is back practicing with the team.

Matt Schaub, HOU: Road games against the Colts, Jaguars, Steelers, Packers, Vikings and Browns - all legitimate playoff teams - could make for a tough offensive season in Houston.

Brett Favre, NYJ: In New York, Favre has some decent receivers to work with, and underrated back in Thomas Jones, and improved offensive line, and depth at the tight end position. While it's hard to imagine him picking up the offense and succeeding right away, his fantasy prospects are not terrible. Consider him a borderline starter and solid backup for your fantasy team.

Kurt Warner, ARI: It's official. Warner will start Week 1. He threw 27 TDs last season in a relief role of Matt Leinart who missed much of 2007 with a broken collarbone. With two above-average weapons on the outside, Warner has great upside but also comes with an above average age/injury risk. A Leinart handcuff would be ideal.

Jake Delhomme, CAR: Delhomme had Tommy John surgery this offseason and will practice once per day during training camp. Whether he'll be “good as new” once Week 1 rolls around is anybody's guess. As with most QBs, he is the key to the offense and the fantasy value of Steve Smith.

Philip Rivers, SD: Rivers is recovering from ACL surgery but is expected to start the season. He will likely wear a knee brace for the duration of 2008.

Tarvaris Jackson, MIN: Jackson is nursing a sprained MCL. His playing status for Thursday's preseason game against Dallas is uncertain. "I don't have my range of motion right now. Once I get that back in the next couple of days, I should be fine," said Jackson who also added that he is relatively pain-free. The next accurate pass Jackson throws will be his first. His 58 percent completion rate and 70.8 QB rating ranked him 26th and 28th respectively among starting QBs in 2007... and the Vikings expect this guy to quarterback them to the playoff hopes? Errrr.... What's behind door number two, Monte? Don't be surprised when Gus Frerotte steps under center in Week 6.

Matt Leinart, ARI: Leinart was penciled in as the starter throughout camp but lost his starting job to Warner. Warner is a solid fantasy backup or low-end starter but given Warner's age, don't be afraid to take a flier on Leinart toward the end of your draft. It's likely he will see the field at somepoint during the season.

Alex Smith, SF: Smith has lost his starting job to J.T. O'Sullivan who is more familiar with Martz's system from his days in Detroit.

Kyle Boller, BAL: Boller's injured shoulder may prevent him from starting the season or playing at all in 2008. He's has been unable to throw and struggled to raise his arm over his head. He's a getting a second opinion. With Troy Smith recovering from tonsillitis, rookie Joe Flacco may get the starting nod Week 1.
