Outlook: The Giants signaled their dissatisfaction with their current pass-catching options by selecting a wide receiver with the No.6 overall pick in the NFL Draft. With that in mind, it's tough to get very excited about any of the other wide receivers in what is expected to be a low-efficiency Giants passing game. Players like Darius Slayton have had their moments, and Jalin Hyatt was a hot name rising up many fantasy draft boards prior to the 2023 season. However, the odds-on favorite to see the most playing time aside from Malik Nabers has to be Wan'Dale Robinson.

Robinson is a slot specialist who uses his speed to create separation near the line of scrimmage and make plays after the catch. That skill set is something the Giants don't have much of on their existing roster. Given their still-shaky offensive line and questionable quarterback play, there's a good chance they will need to utilize Robinson's abilities.

Unfortunately, these types of players don't often become fantasy superstars because, while they may have a high catch rate, they don't often break off big plays that result in touchdowns. Instead, they typically make a few catches each game. Five receptions for 50 yards and no touchdowns doesn't sound exciting for fantasy purposes.

Perhaps the addition of a true field-stretching star receiver like Malik Nabers can open things up for Robinson underneath and allow him to find more room after the catch. However, it's fairly likely that we'll see Robinson take a step back in overall target share, which will limit his potential as a fantasy asset. Still, he is someone who could be a late-round option for those in very deep PPR formats.

 Adonai Mitchell, IND (Bye: 14)

2024 (Projected)IND 37 488 3 0 0 0 66.8

Outlook: The Colts selected Texas wide receiver Adonai Mitchell, with the 52nd (Round 2) pick of the 2024 draft. Heading into the draft, there were conflicting views on Mitchell from many analysts. Some viewed him as a Round 1 talent - an athletic freak, featuring a long frame and explosive 4.34 speed. However, he lacked the polish in route running and contested catch ability that many teams were looking for. Ultimately, he has the kind of athletic profile that is worth taking a stab at in Round 2.

Mitchell will slot in as a deep threat for the Colts. He will have to compete with Alec Pierce for this role but Mitchell will certainly be featured in this offense in some capacity. A rotation with Pierce or a full-time role for Mitchell are both realistic outcomes.

Mitchell has the profile to deliver some big plays and can certainly do this with Anthony Richardson's cannon for an arm. He can be a late-round upside play in drafts but the red flags in his prospect profile should keep drafters from getting too aggressive.

 Jalen McMillan, TB (Bye: 11)
78
Height: 6’1”   Weight: 192   DOB: 2001-12-07   Age: 22
College: Washington   Draft: 2024 Round 3 (29)
SeasonTeamGameRec Yard TDAtt Yard TDFPtsFPts/G
2024 (Projected)TB 30 430 3 0 0 0 61.0

Outlook: Jalen McMillan was part of the trio of University of Washington receivers who were selected in this year's draft. Despite being the final player drafted of the trio, McMillan showed the ability to compete with NFL-caliber talent. An injury-riddled 2023 at UW also played a factor in his lesser draft capital.

McMillan will have to compete with Trey Palmer for the WR3 role in Tampa Bay. But surpassing Palmer on the depth chart is not an impossible task. McMillan showed an ability to play outside and in the slot during his time at Washington. This versatility should give McMillan an opportunity to make an impact as a rookie. However, the extent of this impact will likely be on the smaller side. Even if he can carve out a regular role, he would likely be the 4th or 5th option on this offense. McMillan is nothing more than a late-round flier who could provide value if Evans or Godwin went down with injury.

2024 (Projected)TEN 38 435 3 0 0 0 61.5

Outlook: Titans OC Brian Callahan is reunited with former Bengal WR Tyler Boyd in Tennessee. Boyd projects to play the slot role for the Titans, just as he did in Cincinnati. Callahan has historically used 3 WR sets at a high rate, so expect to see Boyd on the field regularly.

Even if he is on the field often, he will likely not be much of a factor in fantasy. Boyd faces legitimate target competition and is clearly the third WR on the targets totem pole. He will possibly provide some flex appeal if Hopkins or Ridley get hurt but does not offer much if everyone is healthy.

 Xavier Legette, CAR (Bye: 11)
81
Height: 6’3”   Weight: 227   DOB: 2001-01-29   Age: 23
College: South Carolina   Draft: 2024 Round 1 (32)
SeasonTeamGameRec Yard TDAtt Yard TDFPtsFPts/G
2024 (Projected)CAR 38 485 2 0 0 0 60.5

Outlook: Yet another new addition to the Carolina offense, the Panthers spent their first-round pick on the hometown kid, University of South Carolina's Xavier Legette.

Legette provided scouts with a controversial prospect profile. He put together an impressive highlight reel last season. However, some of his advanced metrics were not what you are looking for out of an alpha, X receiver. It was also concerning that Legette never had more than 200 yards in a season prior to his fifth-year breakout.

Despite these red flags, the Panthers selected Legette in hopes that he could be an effective big-bodied, vertical receiver alongside Diontae Johnson.

I have issues with Legette's prospect profile and am hesitant about what kind of value the vertical threat receiver on this offense will provide. However, if you want to take a chance on Legette he can be drafted as a bench asset with a price tag of WR58.

 Quentin Johnston, LAC (Bye: 5)
82
Height: 6’3”   Weight: 208   DOB: 2001-09-06   Age: 23
College: Texas Christian   Draft: 2023 Round 1 (21)

2023LAC1738 431 2 3 9 0 56.0 3.3
2024 (Projected)LAC 33 414 2 0 0 0 53.4

Outlook: A first-round pick last year, Johnston endured a largely forgettable first season. Despite injuries to Allen, who missed four games, and Williams, who missed 14, the then-rookie finished with 38 receptions, 431 yards, and 2 touchdowns -- he topped 50 yards in a game just twice. Things haven't gotten much better in the lead up to Year 2. The TCU product has dealt with drops during training camp, and he is currently working with the second-team offense while journeyman D.J. Chark joins Palmer and McConkey with the starting unit. That's not a great sign with a new coaching staff and GM in place.

Although it's far too early to write off a receiver with Johnston's talent, not to mention his 6-foot-4, 215-pound frame, he's not trending in the right direction. A couple of months ago, maybe you could've talked yourself into rolling the dice with a late-round selection. At this stage, however, Johnston should go undrafted in most formats.
