Bucs place franchise tag on Chris Godwin

Wide receiver Chris Godwin is the Bucs’ franchise player. Godwin will be guaranteed at least $16.43 million on a one-year contract, the average salary of the top five receivers in the NFL. (Tampa Bay Times)

FFToday's Take: Interesting that the Bucs are choosing to place the tag on Godwin over LB Shaquil Barrett. Godwin missed four games in 2020 but did finish with a respectable 7 TDs and ranked 15th overall in FPts per game among WRs. Rob Gronkowski, Leonard Fournette and wide receiver Antonio Brown are also free agents that the Bucs could re-sign.
