2018 Outlook
Depth Chart
The Yin to Adam Thielen's Yang, Stefon Diggs was a tale of peaks and valleys during the 2017 season. He began the season looking like a bonafide #1 fantasy receiver with a 22-391-4 line over the first four games. He seemed to mesh very well with newly installed starter Case Keenum, but a 7-week stretch followed the hot start that saw Diggs only snag one more touchdown and fail to register 80 yards. A 3-game touchdown streak salvaged some value in the fantasy playoffs, but as a whole he was down a significant amount of receptions from 2016.

Diggs' 8 touchdowns last season (in only 14 games) were more than he combined in his previous two seasons, and I expect there to be a natural regression in 2018. He'll be breaking in yet another new quarterback this season in Kirk Cousins, whose deep ball skill-set actually matches well with Diggs. I just think too much of this passing game funnels through Thielen, as the offensive scheme won't change much even with a new signal caller at the helm. His role in the offense means he's going to be inconsistent on a weekly basis, as he'll mix WR1 weeks with WR4 weeks. Let's split the difference and say with a slight regression in touchdowns and a slight increase in yards and receptions, Diggs comes in at a low-end WR2.

News From The Past 90 Days
Injury Stefon Diggs a gametime decision
Knee swelled overnight
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Dec 2, 11:40 am

Minnesota Vikings
Vikings' WR Stefon Diggs' knee swelled overnight and he now needs to test it pregame to determine whether he can play today against the New England Patriots, per league source. Diggs back to being questionable today. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Not good news. The Vikings and Patriots play at 4 pm eastern meaning we won't know if Diggs is going to play prior to early lock at 1 pm Eastern. If Diggs' sits, Laquon Treadwell and Aldrick Robinson would see increased snaps.

Injury Stefon Diggs (rib) "knows" he will play in Week 11
Vikings WR practiced Monday with team
By: Mike Krueger | Tue Nov 13, 1:10 pm

Minnesota Vikings
Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) on Twitter: #Vikings WR Stefon Diggs tells me - on the RapSheet and Friends podcast - he practiced Monday with the team after sitting out vs. #Lions with a rib injury: "I know I will play" this week. Hear Diggs' highly entertaining interview when the pod drops Wed. (Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Diggs sat out Week 9 and the Vikings Week 10 bye gave him another week to get healthy. He's a WR2 with WR1 upside facing the Bears on Sunday night. It's good news for Adam Thielen, who had his lowest yardage total of the season without Diggs in Week 9, and bad news for Laquon Treadwell owners, who have likely seen the end of his 2018 relevance.

Injury Diggs not expected to play, Cook limited
Vikings have a bye in Week 10
By: Mike Krueger | Sat Nov 3, 11:00 pm

Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota Vikings receiver Stefon Diggs, listed as questionable with a rib injury, is not expected to play Sunday against the visiting Detroit Lions, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Minnesota has its bye week upcoming, so Diggs will have two weeks to rest his injured ribs. A source also told Schefter that Vikings running back Dalvin Cook, questionable with a lingering hamstring injury, is expected to see the field but be on a pitch count of about 20 or so plays. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Diggs will miss this week with a rib injury leaving Adam Thielen, Laquon Treadwell and tight end Kyle Rudolph as the main pass catchers for the Vikings. A 5-foot-10 slot receiver, Chad Bebe, has been called up from the practice squad. Cook won't be a fantasy option given his limited role.

Injury Cook, Diggs listed as questionable
Cook will be limited if he plays
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Nov 2, 3:00 pm

Minnesota Vikings
Dalvin Cook and Stefon Diggs are both listed as questionable for the Minnesota Vikings' Week 9 game against the Detroit Lions. Diggs sustained an injury to his ribs in the second quarter of a 30-20 loss to the New Orleans Saints. The wide receiver did not practice Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. Cook's participation in practice Friday gives the Vikings hope that he will be able to play against the Lions. Sources indicated that Cook will go through an on-field workout prior to inactives before determining whether he can play. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: The Vikings handling of Cook is questionable at best given they have a bye next week. If he does play, he's expected to be on a pitch count. He won't be a recommended fantasy play even if he is active on Sunday. Diggs owners should be getting plan B in place in case he is ruled inactive on Sunday.

Injury Stefon Diggs misses second straight practice
Rib injury
By: Doug Orth | Thu Nov 1, 3:20 pm

Minnesota Vikings
Dalvin Cook, Linval Joseph and Xavier Rhodes all practiced for a second straight day. Still no Stefon Diggs. (The Athletic - Chad Graff)

FFToday's Take: Diggs recently told the local media he "absolutely" expects to play in Week 9, but back-to-back missed practices cannot be viewed as a good thing. It is worth noting Diggs has performed significantly worse throughout his career when he finds himself on the injury report as opposed to when he is not, although most of his previous injuries have been lower-body ailments. If he returns to practice Friday, he should be treated as the low-end WR1 he typically is.

Injury Stefon Diggs absent Wednesday
Core injury
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Oct 31, 1:45 pm

Minnesota Vikings
Dalvin Cook is doing at least some work in practice today. No Stefon Diggs, who appeared to sustain a core injury on Sunday night. Roc Thomas and Anthony Barr, who've both had hamstring injuries, are sitting out on Wednesday. (Ben Goessling on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The severity of Diggs' injury is unknown at the moment. Is here were to somehow miss Week 9, Laquon Treadwell might be a viable option. Stay tuned...

Injury Dalvin Cook, Marcus Peters active Week 4
Injured RB, CB cleared to play Thursday
By: Doug Orth | Thu Sep 27, 8:00 pm

Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (hamstring) and Rams CB Marcus Peters (calf) are active and will play tonight. (ESPN - Field Yates)

FFToday's Take: Cook was trending toward being active all week, so owners should feel OK about plugging him into their lineups in a game where the Vikings may be relying on his ability to contribute in the passing game in the second half. Peters being active is a bit of a surprise, since it appeared he may have been seriously hurt in Week 3. Peters has not acted as a shadow to this point (and probably won't despite the absence of Aqib Talib), so Stefon Diggs owners should sweat his matchup.
