Jets decline option on Chris Johnson, free agent
Set to become free agent on March 10th
By: Mike Krueger | Feb 14 2015, 2:00 pm

The Chris Johnson the Jets signed a year ago wasn’t up to his old standards, so they decided not to keep him around for another year. The team announced they weren’t picking up the option on the veteran running back’s contract, meaning he’ll be an unrestricted free agent on March 10. (ProFootballTalk)

FFToday's Take: Johnson averaged a respectable 4.3 yards per carry in New York but the cap savings of $3.5 million coupled with mediocre production won't get a veteran running back re-signed these days. Chris Ivory and Daryl Richardson are the top two running backs on the Jets depth chart.
