Wes Welker suspended four games Use of amphetamines By: Mike Krueger | Sep 2 2014, 7:07 pm
Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker has been suspended four games for use of amphetamines, sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Welker was excused from practice Aug. 20-21 to attend his appeal hearing, sources told ESPN Senior NFL Analyst Chris Mortensen. (ESPN)
FFToday's Take:Welker will have plenty of time to get through the leagues' concussion protocol. The Broncos have a bye in Week 4 so the earliest Welker could return to the field would be Week 6. Emmanuel Sanders becomes legit WR2 option and keep in mind, the Broncos used tight end Jacob Tamme in the slot during Welker's absence last season.
