Cam Newton out four months Carolina QB will have ankle surgery By: Mike Krueger | Mar 18 2014, 4:00 pm
Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton will undergo ankle surgery Wednesday, the team confirmed Tuesday.
According to the team, the recovery will take up to four months, which coincides with the start of training camp. (Charlotte Observer)
FFToday's Take:Newton battled an ankle issue during the latter stages of the 2013 season. Rest did not cure the situation so surgery to "tighten up the ligaments" is now on the table. The timetable should allow for Newton to be back on the field for the start of training camp but he'll miss valuable time with whatever receivers the Panthers add to the roster between now and then.
