Giants tab Pat Shurmur as head coach
Coached Cleveland from 2011-12
By: Doug Orth | Jan 22 2018, 7:00 pm

The Giants today announced that Pat Shurmur will become the 18th head coach in franchise history. Shurmur, 52, completed his second season as the Minnesota Vikings’ offensive coordinator when they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles. This is the second head coaching assignment for Shurmur, who led the Cleveland Browns from 2011-12. (New York Giants on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The Giants made the move today despite after deciding against a second interview, in part because Shurmur was caught in some bad weather. His first task will be trying to squeeze whatever is left out of Eli Manning while also trying develop his heir apparent. The good news for New York is Shurmur was able to muster passable offense in Minnesota without the benefit of high-quality play at quarterback or on the offensive during most of his stay.
