Bucky Irving started his rookie season in a timeshare with Rachaad White, but by the end of November, Irving was getting the lion's share of the carries. The Bucs won six of their last seven games and leaned on the versatile youngster during those triumphs. On the ground, his 1,122 yards were 10th in the league, and through the air, his 47 receptions were the 11th best for running backs. Solid numbers for a player selected near the end of fantasy drafts -- if he was drafted at all.
After a strong close to last season, Irving enters the 2025 fantasy draft season as the unquestioned leader in the backfield for the Buccaneers. His 2024 season wrapped with rushing for at least 88 yards in five of his last seven games, only increased his stock heading into the off-season. Rachaad White will certainly see his share of playing time, but not to a degree that should negatively affect Irving. Bucky is a solid option as an RB1 for those who select a WR first. Draft him with confidence.

Mike Evans, Emeka Egbuka gametime decisions for Monday Evans expected to play By: Mike Krueger | Sat Oct 18, 12:35 pm

| | And Mike Evans, who practiced today, also is considered a pre-game decision, though it sounds like there is more hope for him than Emeka Egbuka.
Even if Egbuka doesn’t play Monday night, he is expected to have a chance to play next week at New Orleans before the Buccaneers’ bye. (Adam Schefter on X)
FFToday's Take: It sounds like Evans is going to play barring some setback, but don't be surprised if Egbuka is on the Inactive list Monday night. Both are dealing with hamstring injuries. Bucky Irving (foot) and Chris Godwin (ankle) have both been ruled Out. Tampa Bay has a bye in Week 9.

| Chris Godwin ruled Out for Week 6 Fibula injury By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 10, 2:27 pm

| | Buccaneers ruled out WRs Chris Godwin and Mike Evans along with RB Bucky Irving for Sunday’s game vs. the 49ers. (Adam Schefter on X)
FFToday's Take: Godwin missed practice this week with a fibula injury, something unrelated to his ankle injury suffered last season. HC Todd Bowles said Godwin is "week-to-week" which doesn't sound good for his chances at playing in Week 7. The Bucs have a bye in Week 9. With Godwin out, the top three receivers should be Emeka Egbuka, Sterling Shepard and rookie Tez Johnson. This would also be a situation where TE Cade Otton could see increased targets.

| Bucky Irving week-to-week with foot sprain On crutches and in a walking boot By: Mike Krueger | Wed Oct 1, 10:58 am

| | Buccaneers do not fear Bucky Irving’s foot sprain is a long-term injury, per source. The team considers it a week-to week-injury. He was spotted today at practice on crutches and in a walking boot. (Adam Schefter on X)
FFToday's Take: HC Todd Bowles said that a decision on Irving's playing status this week won't be made until Friday but as of now, it seems unlikely that he will play against the Seahawks. Expect Rachaad White and Sean Tucker to handle the running back duties this week. White will be in the RB2/Flex conversation given there are four teams on bye.

| Bucky Irving expected to have big role again Expected to pick up where he left off late last season By: Doug Orth | Mon Aug 4, 3:00 pm

| | (The Buccaneers) love (Bucky Irving), and while they also like Rachaad White and have a role planned for him, Irving is viewed by people in the building as special enough to warrant a high-volume RB1 role. That includes pass-catching work.
"His vision (makes him special). His timing of when he's supposed to hit the gas. He's patient, patient and then hits it. I just think he's always looking to score. It's tough to see in practice. Like, last year at this time I was like, 'Eh. We'll see. It looks good.' But didn't expect it to be like it was. He's just tough to bring down. He's strong, he's got great vision, he understands it, and then also you add in the ability to catch, too. He's well-rounded," Baker Mayfield told reporters recently. (ESPN.com - Dan Graziano)
FFToday's Take: Fantasy managers should not be overly surprised, but it would appear any talk about Irving losing work to White - as was the case throughout the first half of last season - should be taken with a grain of salt. While it seems unlikely that Tampa Bay would consistently give a sub-200 pound running back 20-plus touches for a full season, Irving regularly handled that kind of workload after the team's Week 11 bye. Do not hesitate to select Irving in the second round of fantasy drafts over the next month.
