Although he was drafted fourth overall in 2024, Harrison was viewed by some as the most talented overall prospect, and he was the first non-quarterback off the board. Considered a polished route runner and NFL ready, the second-generation receiver endured an up-and-down season, and he finished well behind Jacksonville's Brian Thomas Jr., the Giants' Malik Nabers, and LA's Ladd McConkey, all of whom topped 1,100 yards as rookies. He had his moments -- most notably a 130-yard, 2-touchdown effort in a Week 2 blowout of the division rival Rams -- but the consistency was absent.
As already noted, Harrison and Murray have been hard at work during the offseason, trying to get on the same page ahead of their second season together. That's of paramount importance to both players as individuals and the team as a whole, as there were simply far too many weeks when Harrison was effectively shut down. While appearing in all 17 games, the Ohio State product topped 100 yards just twice, and he had 10 games of fewer than 50 yards. He also struggled in contested catch scenarios despite his size (6-foot-3, 209 pounds).
Although he failed to meet the lofty expectations during his rookie year, Harrison still finished with a respectable 885 yards and eight touchdowns (tied for 13th in the NFL). He remains the clear top target on the outside and a critical part of the offense. The shine figures to be off Harrison to a degree, which could push him down draft boards a bit, but there's still loads of upside here. Draft him as a low-end WR2 or strong WR3 and hope he makes a second-year leap.

Michael Wilson playing himself into a bigger role OC discusses keeping WR involved even after No. 1 WR returns By: Doug Orth | Tue Nov 25, 4:20 pm

| | Drew Petzing on what the Cardinals can do with Michael Wilson’s role when Marv returns:
“Move him around the formation, continue to put him higher in the progression. … When you produce in this league, we’re gonna give you more opportunities to continue to do that.” (AZ Central Sports - Theo Mackie)
FFToday's Take: It almost boggles the mind how a coaching staff needed nearly three years and for Marvin Harrison Jr. to undergo an appendectomy to see what it had in Wilson, but here we are. Wilson is only the ninth player in league history to amass 25 catches and 300-plus receiving yards over a two-game stretch - a list of players that includes Jerry Rice, Antonio Brown, Terrell Owens and CeeDee Lamb. In short, fantasy managers should no longer assume they can or should drop Wilson once Harrison returns to action.

| Marvin Harrison Jr. in limbo for Week 13? Has missed last two games following appendectomy By: Doug Orth | Mon Nov 24, 11:30 pm

| | No update from Gannon on Marvin Harrison Jr.'s status this week. (AZ Central Sports - Theo Mackie)
FFToday's Take: Even in the best-case scenarios, it would be a lot to ask for a football player to return to action a little over two weeks following an appendectomy. Furthermore, it would be even more to ask for him to be healthy enough to play a full game. As such (and especially with Arizona's season going down the drain), don't be surprised if Harrison sits at least one more week. In just two games without MHJ, Michael Wilson has become a fantasy star, erupting for 25 catches and 303 yards receiving. If Harrison sits again, Wilson would be an obvious must-start in Week 13 versus the Bucs.

| Practice window opened for Trey Benson, MHJ ruled Out Emari Demercado also ruled Out for Week 12 By: Mike Krueger | Wed Nov 19, 11:44 am

| | The Cardinals are opening that practice window for RB Trey Benson, coach Jonathan Gannon said.
Gannon also ruled out WR Marvin Harrison Jr. and RB Emari Demercado for Sunday’s game against Jacksonville. (Josh Weinfuss on X)
FFToday's Take: Benson last played in Week 4 when he suffered a knee injury that's kept him out of the last six games. When asked is Benson will play in Week 12, head coach Jonathan Gannon said they would evaluate him "day by day." Bam Knight and Michael Carter would handle running back duties if Benson isn't activated this week against Jacksonville.

| Purdy, Pearsall expected to play in Week 11 Both haven't played since Week 4 By: Mike Krueger | Thu Nov 13, 6:03 pm

| | Quarterback Brock Purdy will return to the starting lineup Sunday vs. the Cardinals, Kyle Shanahan just said during the taping of the 49ers Game Plan. (Matt Maiocco on X)
FFToday's Take: Purdy has played in just two games this season and hasn't played since Week 4. He's been dealing with a toe injury suffered in Week 1. This will send Mac Jones back to the bench. We should also see WR Ricky Pearsall (knee) return to action who also hasn't played since Week 4. The 49ers travel to Arizona to take on the Cardinals this week who will be without Marvin Harrison Jr.

| Marvin Harrison Jr. Out for Week 11, appendicitis Cardinals thin at receiver position. By: Mike Krueger | Wed Nov 12, 11:45 am

| | Cardinals WR Marvin Harrison Jr. underwent surgery for appendicitis and is out for at least this week and possibly longer. (Adam Schefter on X)
FFToday's Take: Harrison has 22 targets and scored twice over the last two weeks but that positive trend will be put on hold. The Cardinals will also be without Zay Jones who tore his Achilles in Week 10. That should give Greg Dortch an expanded role but expect TE Trey McBride to lead the team in targets.
