Don't let the Week 18 performance trick you into thinking Ray Davis has standalone value. He is strictly a handcuff to one of the league's top fantasy players and James Cook is one of the most durable running backs in the NFL. Cook has played at least 16 games every single year of his career.

Because of Cook's clean bill of health, Davis only operated as the primary back once last year and it happened in the regular season finale against the Jets after Buffalo had already locked up their playoff seed. Sure, Davis looked fantastic in that game, destroying one of the league's most pathetic defenses for 151 rushing yards on 21 carries while adding a receiving score. That performance proves he can handle a heavy workload if his number gets called. Outside of that meaningless game, however, he failed to hit 10 PPR points a single time.

Do not waste a starting spot on him while Cook is active. He will probably go undrafted in many leagues, but keep him at the top of your waiver wire queue as a premium lottery ticket who immediately becomes a weekly fantasy starter if Cook suffers an injury.
