2025 Outlook
Depth Chart
A year ago, the Seahawks believed they had one of the game's top receiving trios with DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and Smith-Njigba. Now, only JSN remains, with Metcalf being traded to Pittsburgh and Lockett signing with the Titans. After a nondescript debut campaign, Smith-Njigba was the team's steadiest and most productive wideout in his second season, leading the team in targets (137), receptions (100), yards (1,130), and touchdowns (6), though he trailed both Metcalf and Lockett in yards per catch (11.3).

While he heads into the new season as the top option, there are some question marks, most notably how he'll function without Metcalf around to draw coverage and how he'll do lining up on the outside while newcomer Cooper Kupp takes snaps in the slot -- granted, Smith-Njigba wasn't exclusively a slot receiver his first two years, and Kubiak reportedly plans to move wideouts around, but the expectation is still for the former Buckeye to see a lower percentage of his snaps there.

Despite some uncertainty, Smith-Njigba is fully expected to be the No. 1 option for Darnold, and though we still need to see how their chemistry develops, the veteran quarterback showed he was capable of feeding volume targets like Jefferson and Addison in Minnesota. Easily the surest thing for the Seahawks in the passing game, JSN looks like a nice midrange WR2 for fantasy owners.

New extension for JSN, keeps him in Seattle through 2031
Deal includes over $120 million guaranteed
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Mar 23, 9:29 am

Seattle Seahawks
Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the reigning NFL Offensive Player of the Year, has reached agreement with the Seattle Seahawks on a four-year contract extension that makes him the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history, sources told ESPN. The deal includes over $120 million guaranteed. The Seahawks already exercised Smith-Njigba's fifth-year option for 2027 last week, and now have the two-time Pro Bowler under contract for the next six seasons. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: We new this deal was likely to come even though Seattle just exercised his 5th-year option for 2027. JSN finished 2nd in fantasy points among all wide receivers last season (119-1793-10) and his hitting his prime. The next big pay day at wide receiver will be for Puka Nacua who will be in the final year of his contract in 2026.

Seattle unlikely to use franchise tag on Kenneth Walker
Seahawks focused on other priorities
By: Mike Krueger | Tue Feb 17, 8:36 am

Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks are unlikely to use either a franchise or transition tag on running back and Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker, league sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Tuesday. The Seahawks have multiple free agents that they want to retain and sign, and the team would also try to extend the contract of wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Walker will become a free agent in March and will be one of the top running backs on the market. He largely underperformed this past fantasy season (RB29 in FPts/G), working in a split role with Zach Charbonnet. A landing spot with a true lead back role in an above average offense would spike his fantasy value heading into the 2026 drafting season.
