Let's get the bad news out of the way. Lawrence threw 12 TD's and 17 INT's in 2021, both worst in the NFL. But let's not minimize the rest of the story. As a rookie, in what can only be described as a dysfunctional environment, under a head coach that didn't even make it through the season, he ranked in the top half of the league among QB's in attempts, completions, rushing attempts and rushing yards, and was just outside the top half in passing yards. With seemingly everything working against him, he still completed just under 60% of his 602 attempts for over 3,600 yards.
There's no doubt he needs to get better, but there is talent there. The Jags added some pieces to the receiving corps, but I'm not sure they are that much better there. They do get RB Travis Etienne back, which will be a welcome safety valve for Lawrence and a weapon with whom he's already developed years of chemistry. Having his old college RB, a QB whisperer in HC Doug Pederson, an offensive system that will highlight his skill set, and a year of experience and development under his belt could be enough to push Lawrence into solid back end QB2 status, or at least a reasonable consideration in flex formats.

Jaguars: No plan to rest their starters Week 18 games against TEN will decide AFC South By: Mike Krueger | Sun Jan 1, 8:09 am

| | Jaguars have no plans to rest any players for today’s game vs the Texans, even though their Week 18 showdown with the Titans almost certainly will decide the AFC South title. “It's full steam ahead,” said one Jaguars official. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: This game doesn't mean much regarding their playoff chances but it sounds like Trevor Lawrence, Travis Etienne, Evan Engram and company will be out there for a full workload. All have decent matchups against the Texans this week.

| Trevor Lawrence expected to play Week 14 Toe injury By: Mike Krueger | Sat Dec 10, 11:29 pm

| | Jaguars’ QB Trevor Lawrence, who missed most of practice last week and is listed as questionable for Sunday due to a toe injury, is expected to play vs. the Titans, per sources. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Lawrence got bent back awkwardly in last week's game against the Lions and ended up with a toe injury. We'll see how much that affects him today against Tennessee who is somewhat of a pass funnel. They've allowed six 300-yard passing games to quarterbacks this season.

| Calvin Ridley shipped to Jacksonville Suspended Falcons WR dealt for two picks By: Doug Orth | Tue Nov 1, 5:25 pm

| | The Jags have acquired suspended WR Calvin Ridley from the Atlanta Falcons, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Tuesday, per sources informed of the situation. The Falcons' trade return is two future draft picks that can range from a maximum compensation of a 2023 fifth-rounder and a 2024 second-round pick, which will be conditional upon Ridley's reinstatement. Should Ridley be reinstated past a certain date, the 2023 fifth-round pick will turn into a sixth-rounder, per Rapoport. If Ridley makes the team in 2024, the second pick will be worth at least a fourth-rounder. A playing-time milestone converts the pick into a third-rounder and the Jaguars will give up a 2024 second-round pick if the team strikes a long-term deal with Ridley. (Around the NFL - Kevin Patra)
FFToday's Take: In theory, this is great news for the fantasy values of Ridley, Kyle Pitts and Drake London. From Jacksonville's perspective, Ridley should give Trevor Lawrence a proven alpha receiver. He should be in far better fantasy situation with Lawrence than with whatever quarterback is running the show in Atlanta in 2023. As for the Falcons, Ridley's departure likely means that Pitts and London won't have another supremely talented pass-catcher stealing targets from them moving forward.
