Etienne missed his entire rookie season to a broken foot, but he is now healthy and has been an early standout at Jags training camp. He's a dual threat back who is outstanding in space no matter how he gets the ball. Some drafters are knocking his value because James Robinson will be back, leading to RB committee talk, but Robinson's presence doesn't necessarily mean Etienne will be sent to the sideline on 1st and 2nd down. Etienne has been lining up all over the field and owners should expect HC Doug Pederson and company to be very creative in finding ways to put the ball in his hands. You'll see him split out, in motion, and even in the same backfield with Robinson. I'm not worried about his target share. Plug Etienne in as a RB2. He's going to produce in this offense.

NY Jets acquire James Robinson
Set to replace injured Breece Hall for Gang Green
By: Doug Orth | Mon Oct 24, 11:30 pm

Jacksonville Jaguars
Sources: The Jets are making a big trade, acquiring Jaguars RB James Robinson to help replaced injured RB Breece Hall. Draft pick compensation is going back to the Jags. (NFL Network - Ian Rapoport)

FFToday's Take: The draft pick compensation is reportedly a conditional sixth-round pick that could turn into a fifth-rounder. Robinson's departure makes it abundantly clear that Travis Etienne is the only show in time for now in Jacksonville. Meanwhile, Robinson's arrival in New York figures to offset the loss of Breece Hall (ACL), although Robinson lacks the explosiveness of the rookie. Robinson should eventually see more volume than new backfield partner Michael Carter but will likely top out as a low-end RB2.

Injury James Robinson ready to go for opener
RB coming back from late-season Achilles injury
By: Doug Orth | Mon Sep 5, 7:40 pm

Jacksonville Jaguars
Jaguars RB James Robinson, who tore his Achilles in Week 16 of last season, will be active and will play on Sunday vs. Washington, per HC Doug Pederson. Big news for Jacksonville as it seems like his recovery went smoothly. (PFF - Ari Meirov)

FFToday's Take: Robinson tore his Achilles in Week 16 last season, so this is a Cam Akers-like recovery from an injury that once sidelined players more than a year. With that said, there is little evidence that a running back can and will be productive in the first year following an Achilles tear. With that said, it is highly unlikely Robinson sees more than a handful of touches for the first few games. Even as the season progresses, Travis Etienne should be considered the back to roster in Jacksonville this season.
