While Daniel Jones was alive, Pittman was a reliable touchdown dependent WR2, but like the rest of the Colt's skill position players, the offense took a nosedive when Jones tore his Achilles. Overall, Pittman has been a solid receiving option in his six-year career, but he no longer has clear alpha status with the Steelers. He's far removed from the 156 targets he saw in 2023, but excels in the short area and with an old quarterback on his last rodeo, these might be the most valuable targets. Metcalf makes the splash plays, but there's a good bet Pittman leads the team in receptions. I'm just not sure it's enough to elevate him beyond his WR3 ceiling.

Michael Pittman Jr. downgraded to Out for Week 2 Foot injury By: Mike Krueger | Sat Sep 19, 1:05 pm

| | The #Steelers downgraded WR Michael Pittman Jr. to out with a foot injury. He won’t play tomorrow. (Mike Garafolo on X)
FFToday's Take: After playing 88.1% of the snaps in Week 1, Pittman showed up on the injury Wednesday with a foot issue. He then missed practice Thursday and Friday. He also missed time during training camp with an undisclosed injury. We should see more of rookie Germie Bernard this week along side DK Metcalf and Roman Wilson. Bernard played just 3 snaps in Week 1.

| Pittsburgh WRs return on Monday Metcalf, Pittman missed about two weeks with undisclosed injuries By: Doug Orth | Mon Aug 24, 9:50 pm

| | DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr. are also in pads and going through stretch in the shooting period.
Neither WR has practiced since undisclosed injuries at Saturday Night Lights on Aug 8. (ESPN.com - Brooke Pryor)
FFToday's Take: There has been little said about either injury, but two weeks' worth of missed practices should raise a bit of an eyebrow - especially since both are learning a new offense. It could also be that Pittsburgh is exercising a great deal of caution with a pair of soft-tissue injuries so they don't linger. Either way, Pittman is shaping up to be a volume-based fantasy WR3 in most leagues while Metcalf could be a bit more of a hit-or-miss option.
