The Jets used a second round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft to select Denzel Mims from Baylor University. At 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, Mims has a large frame and large catch radius. He ran an impressive 4.38 40-yard dash at the combine and was the No.1 rated player on the three cone drill.

A drop issue in college and reported lack of separation dropped Mims into the second round, but the opportunity with the Jets could not be better. He will likely start right away opposite of Breshad Perriman outside, with Jamison Crowder and Chris Herndon working inside.

From a fantasy perspective, he may not have a ton of value this season, as rookie wide receivers tend to get off to a slow start and the COVID-19 shortened offseason will not make in any easier to build rapport with Darnold. His long-term value could be high, especially if the journeyman WR Perriman does not impress on his one-year deal.

Injury Jets place Le'Veon Bell, Denzel Mims on short-term IR
Hamstring injury

New York Jets
#NYJ place Le’Veon Bell (hamstring) on IR, via source. Eligible to return in three weeks. (Kim Jones on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Bell is eligible to return Week 5. In addition, the team placed WR Denzel Mims on IR and signed Kalen Ballage. This is all undesirable for fantasy owners. Frank Gore should see an increased role in the backfield and is worthy of Flex consideration if you're desparate.

Jets add Donte Moncrief to receiving corps
Jets scrambling at WR
By: Mike Krueger | Sat Aug 29, 9:38 am

New York Jets
Hurting for veteran depth at wide receiver, the New York Jets have agreed to terms with free agent Donte Moncrief, a league source confirmed Saturday. They recently signed Chris Hogan, who already is working with the starters. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: With Breshad Perriman missing practice due to swelling on his knee and rookie Denzel Mims out with a hamstring injury, the Jets have been scrambling at the receiver position this off-season. When Hogan is running with the starters, you know you have issues. The receiving threats to own in this offense are TE Chris Herndon and Jamison Crowder (PPR leagues).
