Everyone knows the story with Dobbins. He burst onto the scene as a rookie in 2020, averaging a ridiculous 6.0 yards per carry and scoring nine times. In five years since, injuries have conspired to limit him to an average of 6.4 games per season. In 2025, his first campaign with the Broncos, he lasted 10 games before suffering a Lisfranc tear that necessitated season-ending surgery. It was just the latest in a laundry list of lower-body injuries that have permanently altered his career trajectory.
When healthy (always the critical phrase when discussing Dobbins), the former Ohio State standout can still be effective, compiling 77.2 yards per game on the ground and successfully keeping the talented Harvey in a secondary role. He's a ticking time bomb in terms of availability, however, and is a complete non-factor in the passing game, which could be a bigger issue in 2026 after the Broncos spent considerable resources to upgrade that aspect of the offense. Dobbins is worth grabbing as your No. 4 back, but don't be shy about flipping him for another asset if he gets off to a strong start.

Jonah Coleman making an impression in Denver RB was pulled early after showing well in preseason opener By: Doug Orth | Tue Aug 18, 6:10 pm

| | Rookie RB Jonah Coleman continues to work his way up the depth chart toward a spot in the regular-season rotation, so much so that coach Sean Payton gave Coleman a fairly quick hook from the preseason opener. Coleman played 12 snaps Friday night in Atlanta and had four carries for 24 yards, with his last carry coming with 47 seconds left in the first quarter. Payton said he's seen enough from Coleman on the practice field to get the rookie out of the preseason opener that early.
"I kind of felt it ... and there was a point when he got like two or three carries and I'm like 'alright, I've seen enough,'" Payton said. "I didn't need additional evidence of what I've been seeing for three weeks." (ESPN.com - Jeff Legwold)
FFToday's Take: ESPN.com's Jeff Legwold goes on to say Coleman continues to get practice snaps with the first- and second-team offenses in camp in a variety of situations. At this point, Denver is shaping up to be more of a three-headed backfield than most fantasy managers likely envisioned when Coleman was drafted. Coleman makes sense as an RB4 option to begin the season and could move into RB2 territory later in the season if J.K. Dobbins misses time again.

| RJ Harvey suffered torn labrum in AFC Championship game Had surgery this offseason By: Mike Krueger | Mon Jun 15, 4:55 pm

| | RJ Harvey tore labrum in shoulder vs. NE + had surgery in offseason, per sources. Didn't do much in OTAs but was practicing.
J.K. Dobbins had a deal w/#Jaguars in FA near-done, source said, before Denver re-signed him. (Luca Evans on X)
FFToday's Take: The Broncos were poking around the free agent running back market this off-season and ultimately re-signed Dobbins and then drafted rookie Jonah Coleman. We're expecting Harvey to be a full participant once training camp begins in late July but stay tuned.
