Stuck in a low volume passing attack led by an ancient quarterback, Metcalf struggled to maintain consistent fantasy value in his first year in black and gold. Sure, he had his moments, but his freak athletic profile just hasn't resulted in numbers you can count on. Rodgers returns, but to make matters worse, Pittsburgh added Michael Pittman Jr. this offseason. Like a cramped nest, this extra mouth to feed means less for Metcalf. He's due for some positive touchdown regression, but there isn't much of a path to more targets. Coming off his worst statistical season since his rookie year (59-850-6), it's hard to envision an uptick in production, leaving Metcalf as more of a low-end WR3.

Michael Pittman Jr. downgraded to Out for Week 2 Foot injury By: Mike Krueger | Sat Sep 19, 1:05 pm

| | The #Steelers downgraded WR Michael Pittman Jr. to out with a foot injury. He won’t play tomorrow. (Mike Garafolo on X)
FFToday's Take: After playing 88.1% of the snaps in Week 1, Pittman showed up on the injury Wednesday with a foot issue. He then missed practice Thursday and Friday. He also missed time during training camp with an undisclosed injury. We should see more of rookie Germie Bernard this week along side DK Metcalf and Roman Wilson. Bernard played just 3 snaps in Week 1.

| Pittsburgh WRs return on Monday Metcalf, Pittman missed about two weeks with undisclosed injuries By: Doug Orth | Mon Aug 24, 9:50 pm

FFToday's Take: There has been little said about either injury, but two weeks' worth of missed practices should raise a bit of an eyebrow - especially since both are learning a new offense. It could also be that Pittsburgh is exercising a great deal of caution with a pair of soft-tissue injuries so they don't linger. Either way, Pittman is shaping up to be a volume-based fantasy WR3 in most leagues while Metcalf could be a bit more of a hit-or-miss option.
