2019 Outlook
Depth Chart
Barkley lived up to the hype that made him the second overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft. The former Penn State star became only the third rookie in NFL history to reach 2000 total yards, joining Edgerrin James and Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson.

One of the best dual threats in the league, Barkley trailed only Christian McCaffrey in receptions out of the backfield, and he is one of only six players to reach double digits in rushing touchdowns.

His impressive rookie campaign has Barkley squarely in the midst of going first overall in most fantasy drafts. Although his receiving skills and volume in the passing game give him a floor nearly unmatched at the position, the lack of a true downfield threat with the absence of Beckham and the chance of the team turning to a rookie QB could hurt his value.

It may also be difficult for Barkley to keep up with his impressive 5.0 yard per carry average should teams stack the box more when guarding the possible short passing attack employed by the Giants.

On a positive note, the Giants improved the right side of the offensive line with Kevin Zeitler and Mike Remmers, and second-year guard Will Hernadez will continue to grow next to Nate Solder.

Injury Daniel Jones in walking boot with ankle sprain
Eli Manning likely to start Week 14
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Dec 4, 10:53 am

New York Giants
Daniel Jones in a boot + has moderate high ankle sprain, per Pat Shurmur. He couldn’t play if Giants had game today. Shurmur compared it to what Saquon Barkley had, slightly less severe. Barkley missed three games. So get ready for the return of Eli Manning on Monday vs Eagles. (Jordan Raanan on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: It will be Eli Manning this week against the Eagles. On a positive note for the Eagles offense, it sounds like TE Evan Engram and WR Golden Tate could be back in action. This is a decent matchup for Manning against the Eagles who've given up the 16th most FPts to quarterbacks and the 4th most FPts to wide receivers.

Injury Sterling Shepard not expected to play Week 8
Concussion
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Oct 24, 1:08 pm

New York Giants
Saquon Barkley (ankle) practiced fully for the Giants today. WR Sterling Shepard (concussion) remained limited. He will not be playing Sunday in Detroit. (Ralph Vacchiano on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Another missed week for Shepard means Golden Tate and TE Evan Engram will be the top targets for Daniel Jones against the Lions. Shepard has suffered two concussions this season but does have a chance to return in Week 9 against the Cowboys.

Injury Plethora of Giants on the mend
Saquon Barkley, Evan Engram "have a chance" to play in Week 7
By: Doug Orth | Mon Oct 14, 5:05 pm

New York Giants
RB Saquon Barkley (ankle), RB Wayne Gallman (concussion), TE Evan Engram (knee) and WR Sterling Shepard (concussion) all took part in individual drills during the Giants' light practice today. Shepard is still a longshot to play Sunday. Barkley and Engram have a chance to play. (SNY - Ralph Vacchiano)

FFToday's Take: Barkley will end up missing a total of three games with a high-ankle sprain if he returns in Week 7, and the release of Jon Hilliman after the Week 6 TNF game was an indication the team believes he will be ready for the Cardinals. Engram would be primed for a huge blowup spot against the league's worst defense against tight ends if he can go. As for Shepard, it seems reasonable he could be held out another week after suffering his second concussion of the season in Week 5.

Saquon Barkley and Wayne Gallman both out for TNF
TE Evan Engram doubtful, more Giants reeling from injuries
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Oct 8, 1:06 pm

New York Giants
New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley is unlikely to play Thursday night against the New England Patriots despite returning to practice late last week, multiple sources told ESPN. He had been eyeing this week's contest as a potential return date. There's also a real chance the Giants will be without tight end Evan Engram, who is dealing with a sprained MCL and faces a challenge to be healthy enough to face New England, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Engram is on pace for a career year with 33 catches for 373 yards and two touchdowns. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: So with Barkley unavailable Thursday and both Wayne Gallman and WR Sterling Shepard set to miss the game with concussions, the Giants are in dire straits. Undrafted rookie running back Jon Hilliman and fullback Elijhaa Penny, a converted tailback, are the next men up, and WR Golden Tate should see plenty fo targets operating out of the slot.

Injury Saquon expected to miss multiple weeks
High ankle sprain
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Sep 23, 11:30 am

New York Giants
The #Giants are expecting to be without star RB Saquon Barkley for the next several weeks because of his high-ankle sprain, source said. Not surprising given the nature of the injury and his presence with a walking boot and crutches on the sideline. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Wayne Gallman is presumably the next man up and will get matchups against Washington, Minnesota and the Patriots in the next three weeks. The Giants are likley to rely more on rookie QB Daniel Jones while Barkley is out making Gallman more of a Flex play in the coming weeks.

Daniel Jones named the Giants starter
Rookie QB gets the nod, Eli Manning benched
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Sep 17, 11:15 am

New York Giants
New York Giants (@Giants) on Twitter: "Daniel Jones has been named Giants starting QB" (Twitter)

FFToday's Take: This means Eli Manning can be safely dropped, if you were still holding onto some hope of a resurgence for the veteran QB. The official tweet from the Giants came with a big picture of Jones -- a dead ringer for a young Jim Carrey -- staring awkwardly into the camera in his press photo. The Giants putrid offensive line won't help Jones pile up big fantasy stats, but the weak defense should help from a yardage standpoint. Still -- Jones is likely going to turn the ball over a lot when he's not giving it to stud RB Saquon Barkley, so he's not worth adding in most formats.
