Ekeler still needs to undergo imaging that is scheduled Friday for confirmation. He was carted to the locker room and left the stadium in a boot and crutches. With Ekeler's season likely over, the Commanders will turn to Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Jeremy McNichols and likely Chris Rodriguez Jr. who's been Inactive the first two weeks.

Trade: Commanders are trading RB Brian Robinson Jr. to the 49ers in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick, sources tell ESPN. (Adam Schefter on X) FFToday's Take: We knew Robinson was on the trading block and now know the landing spot. Pending a physical, Robinson will be the new backup for Christian McCaffrey. The 49ers are dealing with multiple injuries to their wide receiver room so it won't be a surprise if they lean on the running game early in the season. This move isn't great for Isaac Guerendo's value as a contingency stash. The Commanders still have Austin Ekeler, Jacory Croskey-Merritt, and Chris Rodriguez Jr. and Jeremy McNichols on their depth chart.

JCM's fantasy stock will be on the rise in the meantime.
