Jones was rock solid in his first year with the Vikings, rushing for a career high 1,138 yards. His additional 408 receiving yards, and 51 receptions also approached career highs. Most importantly, he played a full season for only the 3rd time in his career. Entering his age 31 season Jones figures to again lead this backfield in touches if health allows, as Minnesota gave Jones $13 million guaranteed in the offseason. The addition of Jordan Mason via trade is simply insurance/future proofing at this point, as Jones is realistically locked in for this season. I just don't see him being able to repeat the fortuitous health from 2024 and that baked in risk makes him more of a low-end RB2.

RB Aaron Jones stays in Minnesota on revised contract 10th season upcoming By: Mike Krueger | Wed Mar 11, 2:47 pm

| | The Vikings and RB Aaron Jones have agreed to a revised contract to keep him in Minnesota for the 2026 season, sources tell me and @RapSheet.
Jones lowers his base salary to $5.5 million and will stay in Minnesota. (Tom Pelissero on X)
FFToday's Take: There were reports earlier this off-season that Jones would be let go to save money against the salary cap. Instead, they will keep the 31-year-old running back for another season. He played 12 games last year finishing as the RB33 in fantasy points per game (half-ppr). He'll form a tandem with Jordan Mason which will cap their ceiling as RB3s or Flex considerations.

| Vikings saying goodbye to Aaron Jones? Set to make $10 million in 2026 By: Mike Krueger | Sun Mar 1, 12:01 pm

| | The Minnesota Vikings have begun whittling down their salary cap deficit by informing veteran running back Aaron Jones and defensive tackle Javon Hargrave that they will be released later this month barring a trade, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Sunday. The moves will save the team $18.65 million in cap space. (ESPN)
FFToday's Take: It's difficult to envision a trade being worked out for the veteran Jones who is 31 years old heading into his 10th season in the league. He has spent the last two seasons in Minnesota and missed five games last year due to a hamstring injury. Jones carries a $14.8 million cap hit in 2026 which is why his release is likely.
