Injury Barkley week-to-week with sprained ankle
Giants ravaged by injuries in Week 5
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Oct 11, 9:01 am

New York Giants
The latest: Saquon Barkley - Ankle “sprain.” Likely couple weeks. More tests Monday. Kenny Golladay - Hyperextended knee. MRI Monday. Daniel Jones - Concussion. “In good spirits” after game. Flew home w/team. See how it goes this week. Tough dude. (Jordan Raanan on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The Giants were ravaged by injuries in Week 5 that saw Barkley and Jones get carted off. Devontae Booker filled in for Barkley and would be the presumed starter at running back next week against the Rams. He'll be a hot pickup on the waiver wire. Rookie Kadarius Toney saw 15 targets as he became the focal point of the passing game once Golladay left.

Injury Saquon Barkley good to go for opener?
Optimism building for RB to play Week 1 vs. Denver
By: Doug Orth | Thu Sep 2, 11:00 pm

New York Giants
Saquon Barkley is trending in the right direction and has a strong chance to play Week 1 against Denver, per source. Team won't decide until next week and has been cautious so could still hold him back. But there is optimism. Barkley tore his ACL in Week 2 of 2020. (ESPN - Jeremy Fowler)

FFToday's Take: Fantasy managers should still expect Barkley to get eased into action over the first week or two of the season after he just returned to team drills recently. How quickly he resumes his usual bell-cow role will depend on how he looks in and recovers from those early games. If Barkley is held back a bit early, Devontae Booker will serve as the primary back.

Injury Saquon Barkley to get eased in
HC hints at his back's early workload
By: Doug Orth | Mon Jul 26, 6:55 pm

New York Giants
The Giants plan to take a “long term” approach with Saquon Barkley (knee), coach Joe Judge told me in a 1-on-1 interview. Still a chance he’s ready for Week 1 though. (ESPN - Jordan Raanan)

FFToday's Take: This report shouldn't be all that surprising since the Giants elected to put Barkley on PUP to begin camp a few days ago. With that said, this whole situation has the feel of Judge taking a page out of the book of mentors Bill Belichick and Nick Saban by keeping everything as mysterious as possible. Barkley will likely get eased in early, but fantasy managers should expect the training wheels to come off fairly quickly if he comes out of Week 1 and Week 2 without incident. Devontae Booker will get some extra run in the meantime.
